THX??? Is this really something?

Question - does THX really do anything? I undersstand what DTS, etc does, but I am lost as to what THX does. I realize is a specific "standard" but at the end of the day, it is just a marketing thing?

There's been a lot of discussion on this topic before.

There's also a good Interview on Audioholics with a guy who works for THX and Lucas Arts on THX certification and what it entails.
