Three-channel Emotiva

Interesting to me that I see today that the Emotiva BasX amp that I have is still unavailable after 4 months on their website. And the price went up 2 or $300! That is I suppose if it is available again someday. When I bought my Kef Q11 Meta's @TLS Guy and I think some others strongly suggested I need an external amp. I decided to get a three channel and checked around they are about as hard to find as a Bigfoot. I found one on ebay for around $500 and it came in original packaging and looks new. That was a fantastic find/purchase.

It will be until it develops an issue, which is common with that gear. When that happens you will be SOL and shopping for a new amp. I will be honest, it was not a good purchase, and I would have avoided it like the plague.

I'm happy with it. Pretty sure that is most important.
You are happy because it is working. We have booked a lot of complaints about Emotiva gear failing over the years, and very poor to non existent service when it fails. In fact they give their customers the cold shoulder. In any case they have long had the policy of only offering service to the original owners. If you are not an original owner you are SOL in any case. But from experience of owners here all people who have issues are SOL. They are an outfit, I would not go near with a barge pole. In fact I regard their company ethics as totally deplorable.

I consider my gear high-end. You don't, except for my front speakers. You might say "you get what you payed for eventually" or some such. You buy more expensive stuff that breaks do you not? Or at least a couple of AVP's. I thought this was going to be an optimistic post. Or is no one into that here?

The real issue is their customer relations when there are failures. Their customer service has been awful and unethical.

You will be happy as long as your amp keeps working. However with the Emotiva service policy, then when you do have a problem your unit will need a one way trip to the recycling center.

We have had numerous posts over the years not just about how Emotiva responds, but brick wall silence on their part to customer requests for service. I know your amp is fine at the moment. Emotiva is not an ethical company, and I doubt it will even exist much longer.

I think it will, because I am a glass-is-half-full guy. And that is the truth.

I've always considered the BasX stuff more along the lines of existing avr amps. A good powerful 3ch amp at a good price you might consider would perhaps be something like a Buckeye amp with Hypex modules.

Reread your post, thought you were still waiting for it to be in stock....if you already have it and it works for your purposes then no need to change out....but that amp is probably little different from your avr's....

I was almost maxing out the Onkyo for a day or two. Then I realized and it was suggested here (you were m.i.a at the time) that I need an external amp. It must sound good because TLS Guy was nothing but pleased with the sound of my Kefs when I played the Phoebe Snow s/t LP which is a very well-produced album.

I am guessing it is due to the big China tariffs, parts availability in China, and shipping problems from China to USA.

How did you determine it was almost maxed out? Sounding good within an amp's capabilities isn't that hard to do....it's when you ask far too much of an amp for output that it might have an audible role.

Cranking it up way more than it took to get similar volume from my previous mains Klipsch La Scalas. I like it loud at times.... or often. I think adding the Basx added yesrs to my Onkyo. Like if you only drove your car downhill from now on. Ok, I know you'd wear out your brakes, but you get the picture!

What were the sensitivity differences between the different speakers?
