Q: I am looking for something to blow the cornholio out of my portfolio that is located in my bungholio. Will Thorholio blow the cornholio out of my portfolio that is located in my bungholio?
Nov-10-05

A: Absolutely. This thing will crack your foundation, peel the paint off your house, and measure on the Richter scale. Teh portfolio has little chance of staying where you put it. Teh sub-bass frequencies will dislodge it, and the cornholio will fly from that portfolio!

:D :D :D :p :D :D

Two 12inch woofers and this thing starts to roll off at 30Hz?

Am I reading this correctly? Shocking.

Yeah, whats up with the 30Hz rolloff.....

By chance, I happen to have a uncle that lives possibly about 20 minutes from Acworth.
But with the minimal specs, I would say it does not seem impressive.

Also by chance I will be moving around this area. About 40 minutes away.

Yeah, I would say thats a good laugh. The fellow is actually making love to a tube.
Hmm, I am assuming that he may create a SonoTestTube Baby...
Do you figure Thor is better looking than his wife?

I'm the one selling Thor

Thanks for the insults guys. YOu are a classy bunch.

I'm over it now.

I'm the guy selling Thor. Let me know if you have any questions.

My 30Hz rolloff is a guesstimate using my ears and test tones. An audiophile knows that the slope is as important a piece of information as the point the rolloff starts...30 Hz is my guesstimate of when I noticed my IN ROOM RESPONSE starting to get a bit more quiet. I don't know the db per octave he rolls off at, but he still plays plenty deep.

As you all know, a ported design (well any design for that matter) is a tradeoff. Ported designs play loud and are very efficient and easy to drive, and typically have a "bump" in their response around 45 Hz or so. A sealed (acoustic suspension) is less efficient, doesn't have the bump, and usually plays deeper but requires more power for the same dB.

For comparison, I also have a 15" sealed sub in a 3 cu ft box driven by 1000 watts , and it starts to roll off around 22 Hz (3dB down point)

Thor does exactly what Dr. Hsu designed him to do...

Play loud,
Play efficiently
Be shocking visually

That's why I think he would be great with a tube rig, or for a guy who loves custom built / homebuilt / one of a kind type stuff.

He has a new Ebay link. I deleted the pic of Pat cause I caught so much grief from freaks on Ebay.

Best regards to all!

I'm not offended

No offense taken guys, just ribbing you back a bit.

The SonoTestTube Baby line was hilarious!

I have a good sense of humor; thus the pic of Pat mounting Thor like a dog to a fire hydrant (Pat is my buddy who know of Thor but had not sen him...he walked in and let out a "holy ^$^$&$ dude, waht is THAT? I had my camera ready as I asked him what do you think of it, and the picture is the one I took. It actually became a tradition when friend would visit who had not seen Thor before... I have pics of two other friends replicating the illicit act on Thor.

In all seriousness, if anyone has connections to audio geeks in Atlanta, let them know about Thor; I want him to go to someone who appreciates the engineering and has a love for sound regardless of size.

Take care and best regards to all.

Shane,
I just got positive confirmation from the Dr. that the sonotube sub that you have was designed/built by him.
