up until tonight i was going to go ahead and buy axioms M2 V2 and use them as my mains, then get a center(Axiom VP100), then eventually move the M2 V2 to the rear and then get a pair of Axioms M22 V2 for the mains. i figured this process wouldn’t break the bank and will yield some quality speakers that i can use and re-use. i narrowed my search to bookshelfs due to the price constrictions.
BUT:
i went to a local home theater dealer to listen to some B&W bookshelfs and found a pair of paradigm phantoms on closeout sale for $360 a pair, which is a real good deal IMO.

so i am stuck and tired of looking up reviews and going to stores only to gain more dilemmas. Any insight will be helpful

equipment:
yamaha RX-V2500\
Klipsch Sub-12

i live in an apartment now but will be moving into a house shortly so room size is unknown.movies to music. 75% to 25%

That is the closeout price? I would hope they would be lower than that. I believe they retail for around $400. It may be a good deal, personally I was never impressed with the performance series paradigm.

I think the Phantom retails for around $600, so $360 is a good deal. Will you be able to get the matching center channel speaker, too?

they don't have a matching center channel there, but i imagine i would be able to get one from another retailer when i am ready for it. they retail for about 300 each.

Well, did you listen to the Phantoms? Nevermind the price...price is irrelevant if you didn't like the sound. If you don't like the sound, they could be selling them for $150 and it still wouldn't be a good deal.

I don't know for sure, buy my hunch would be that you'd be getting a better quality product, in terms of sound reproduction and build quality, with the Axioms. They do have a decent return policy, so may be worth it to try them out at home with our own equipment in your own environment. That's the best way to make a determination. Just my .02 cents.

Axiom speakers

The Axiom M22s you were planning on aren't much more than the phantoms expecially if you buy used or from the B-stock page. I think you would find the build quality and performance of the Aixoms closer to the Paradigm Monitor or Studio lines of speakers vs. the lower end phantoms.

As Cory sugested, listen and let your ears decide. Axiom and other online companies have a 30 day trial period so you can demo the speakers in your home.
