This may be a stupid question

BUT is there a way to hook two sources up to the same speakers? For instance, if I have a pair of in ceiling speakers in my living room could they be hooked to one receiver as surrounds, and also to another as a Zone 2? Obviously you would only run one or the other, but is this possible? Are there any negative effects?

Thanks in advance,
Sean

Not safely. You would need a switch the toggle between the two sources. Is that an option that interests you?

I wouldn't be against a switch. I am really just thinking out loud at this point. I am going to start wiring my house soon, and one of the things I was thinking about was distributed audio. My future plan includes doing a in wall/in ceiling system in my front living room. I know how that goes over around here, but since this room is for basic TV watching only I would rather have everything "invisible". Anyway, since there will be speakers in the room already it seems senseless to have another pair only for the occasional distributed audio. It would be much nicer to use either the surrounds, or the front L/R to handle it for that room.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks,
Sean
