Measured using a Radioshack Analog SPL meter at 3 feet with the Bink Audio Test CD. With no platform the floor shakes like crazy! With the platform no shaking. Although I kinda like the feeling of the floor shaking, it sounds like crap. Wonder what the wife will think about the looks?
Thanks for your efforts to measure. :D I think those numbers are well within
the range of repeatability errors, etc with that meter and such. Most likely the benefits are from the floor isolation and feedback.
Also, the JND, just noticeable difference, at those low frequencies are well above what you measured.

Night and day my friend.

That looks pretty cool now. I always like it when someone goes the extra step to provide a pic or in this case SPL levels. It provides everyone reading with that little extra info that keeps your attention.

You could try wrapping your foam block in speaker cloth. Pretty inexpensive from Madisound etc.

I had the experience of a HSU sub repeatedly walking around the floor until it strained the wire and turned itself off. I came up with a good arrangement where I wrapped two sections of 2 X 4 in bicycle tire inner tube rubber, drilled 1/2 inch pits that matched the spikes of the sub and then put more rubber in the pits so the spikes would rest on rubber. The results were sonically fine and the sub doesn't walk around any more, but my wife thinks it's the ugliest thing around. She still enjoys the movies.

Thanks for taking the time to post some dB numbers. Numbers look good.

I would suggest laminating the sub. Find a wood grain she would agree to and go from there. It is not hard. Kinda like wallpaper with thin wood.
