Thinking of Dual Outlaw subs, opinions anyone?

I recently posted the thread "help choosing between subs" and listed a few of my contenders and after a day of thinking and reading about it Outlaws came into the mix. Im trying to stay close to the 1k mark for a sub so with outlaw I asked what duals would cost and here is what I got from them. Mind you this is shipping to Alaska.

2x LFM-1 EX shipped is 1345.45

2x LFM-1 Plus shipped is 1135.06

The other contenders were....

MFW15 is $700 plus $340 to shipped= $1040
EP500 has shipping included so shipped=$1200
HSU VTF3 MK3 is $699 plus $240 ship= $940
SVS PB12 Plus is $950 plus $315 shipped=$1265

At the moment I am leaning toward the Dual Ex setup but I havent seen much chatter comparing Outlaw subs to the other popular companies so I posted this to get the Outlaw guys to speak up:D. I would love to know how the Outlaws stack up against the others. I have heard that HSU designed the Outlaw subs so they must be pretty good.

I have not heard the SVS or the other ID companies. I have an LFM-1 and I can say it really does as good or better than the Klipsch, Mordaunt short, PSB and focal subs that I have owned or good friends have.

For the money they are very good. How big is your room?

I have a split level house so the kitchen is 60% open to the living room. The living room is huge too. 23x16 with ceilings that are 7ft on one side and slope upwards toward the kitchen where they are 11'. Maybe you could just average it and say 9'-10' ceilings but who knows. I end up in the mid 3k range for room size and thats not taking into account that technically my kitchen is 60% connected to my livng room (theres a 8ft wall that has my fridge and microwave cupbord on the other side of it that helps enclose my living room a bit).
So if you really think about it I should probably be running my numbers in excess of 4k.

I have dual LFM-1Pluses, but my room is really small coming in at 706 ft.^3. I have also owned a Hsu VTF-3.3. The Plus is a great sub no doubt, but the 3.3 is just better. However, dual Pluses will easily surpass a single 3.3 in dynamic capability. Down real deep, the 3.3 will have a slight advantage as it should given the dual 4" ports-the Pluses have dual 3" ports. For the price you listed above, the dual Pluses are going to be hard to beat imho. Good luck in your decision.

Cheers,

Phil

I am actually considering doing the EX model instead of the plus which has a little bit lower extension than the plus.

That is do to the larger 4" ports on the EX whereas the Plus has dual 3" ports. Not really sure if the drivers are different. As I eluded to earlier, you will be hard pressed to go wrong with any of the ones you mentioned. Good luck on your decision. ;);)

I came to my decision, and senses. I went ahead and ordered a single EX. The dual EXs was about 40% above my price range at almost $1400.00 and I figure if I decide to get another EX later I will still get the discount for buying a second sub. Their shipping fees to Alaska were the most reasonable that I could find. I got them down to $120.00 which is a steal for up here.

If I didn't live up here and shipping wasn't soooooo damn expensive I would have probably gone with the MFW-15 but considering that the MFW-15 would be $1040.00 vs $720.00 for the EX I think I did well.

Congrats on making a decision. I am sure it wasn't easy. It looks like you made a well informed decision and as such I respect how you went about it. There are many good people here that offer a wealth of knowledge regarding things like this. As croseiv said, we all will be awaiting for your initial impressions and taking pics is a big help. Kudos to you!

I know you've made your decision already, but just comparing port sizes is counter productive. The Plus has 3 - 3inch ports by the way, and variable tuning down to 12Hz.

Hey Sheep, I was referring to the Outlaw LFM-1Plus which has dual 3" ports, not the SVS Plus. When comparing the LFM-1Plus to the LFM-1 EX , the EX can move more air because of having dual 4" ports. This is why the specifications show the EX playing a bit deeper than the Plus. I did not mean to confuse anyone about just saying the word Plus.
