Thinking about klipsch...

I've been looking at the Klipsch WF-34/35's for a little while now and wonder who all has experience with them. The price is right, online at least, and they appear to have decent reviews. use will be 70-80% movies. The one thing I wonder is that why is the frequency range so similar between the two? If i'm not mistaken, the website states the 35's will go 1hz lower. Considering the woofers go up in size from 4.5 to 5.25, shouldnt this difference be greater?

On a side note, does anyone know where i could hear a set in the chicago area? best buy doesnt list them.

The best place around Chicago to hear Klipsch products is a store called Simply Stereo in Hoffman Estates on Higgins road. I don't know if they have that particular speaker, but they have lots of other Klipsch speakers, including the heritage lines. They are the only store within six states that carry the heritage line, and they have them all there, Heresys, Cornwalls, La Scalas, and Klipschorns. I have to warn you though, once you listen to the heritage speakers, you won't give a damn about the WFs, or even the RF series, those Klipschorns will ruin you for every other speaker! They carry other stuff there too, like Paradigm and Revel. They encourage you to bring your own music to demo, they are very friendly guys, so go give them a visit.

i know Best Buy never listed them on their web sight, but i got 4 WF-35s from there, not in Chicago, i'm out in MA, but i got them about 3 months ago when BB was phasing klipsch out of the stores because they struck up a deal with Energy....witch is owned by klipsch... in any case i thought the 35s had a much more clear sound than the 34s especially with voices. they have grate sound, they look sharp and don't take up much space. i would highly recommend them. but as i have been poking in and out of BB all the time i notice that a lot of them still have the WC-34 center channel speaker as a display unit that is usually never connected and runs around $100 as a posed to a 3 or 400 msrp. so if you see that i would recommend snatching it up.

hope this helps

IIRC, someone asked about the WF-35's here before and I think they bought them and liked them. You might be able to find them in a best buy if it has the magnolia home theater room.

Check craigslist. There are lots of Klipsch speakers available. If you don't mind purchasing older, the Forte (I & II), Quartet, and Heresy speakers should be amazing values. My Dad has the Quartets and they sound spectacular. These are bulky speakers. But, they do sound amazing.

I has some Klipsch Cornwalls for years, they were pretty fun speakers. I gave them to the kid next door to my old house several years ago and before I moved, I could always hear him jamming the heck out of them when I would come home.

Listen to Klipsch before you buy, sometimes a big sound
over shadows the midrange. Klipsch is not for everybody.
Good luck with your final choice.

nearly all klipsch speakers have a "big" sound that seems limitless in space which im guessing is due to the horn tweeter, the bad thing about them is they are really really bright, if you don't like bright speakers avoid them. some people find them to be harsh and fatiguing, some people don't. alot of people say they are best for movies not music. (possibly due to the brightness?) if you can handle the brightness i think just about anyone would be wowed by the "soundscape" they create, i know i was atleast, seems every model has that "sound" i'm not speaking specifically for those models.
