My guess is you get ripped off to the tune of $100-150. Here's a link for info about the "White Van Speaker Scam", and ways to prevent it happening to others http://www.scamshield.com/feature.asp?id=1 .

As for hooking the speakers up, what kind of system is this (4.1, 5.1?) and what are you attempting to connect it to (receiver or PC?)

Ok, your only getting the L and R and the sub b/c thats all the signal you have running into it, the red and white cables you have plugged into the dvd input. To get all of them to work you need to run a 5.1 signal into the top 6 inputs. Does your dvd player have matching outputs like this, or do you have a receiver with pre-outs?

no reciever, no plugs that match on dvd player. i have seen a cord out there that has, what looks a serial port and goes to a six prong rca. do i need this to make it work. thanks again for the help.

not sure what cord your talking about, so i can't comment on how it might work for you, without using those inputs at the top of that amplifier on the sub your out of luck with the surround sound and you'll only be left for the Front speakers and sub, sorry I can't help ya out anymore, maybe someone else on here might have an idea

I did see on their website that it has a coax input...can you take a more zoomed in picture of the inputs on the back of that, if it does have that we may still be able to hook up the dvd player for surround sound

again thank you. it has no coax input anywhere on it. i guess that is the problem. i started with dual rca cords, then i went to the local video store and i was told how i should hook it up. that all made sense so i bought 40$ worth of cords,(all rca style) a single coax with rca plug. a cord with three plugs on each end red, blue and green. i ran the three way cord from tv to dvd and then wanted to run the single cord from the dvd to the TR-501 but the TR-501 does not have a single port for digital cable. here is a closer picture.

What kind of DVD player do you have? Most DVD players have 5.1 analog outputs that should correspond to the "Front, Back, Surround" etc.

Call them Monday and complain about advertising digital inputs. Make them buy the system back. Shipping should be about $25. ;)

I've seen that set wholesale at www.made-in-china.com for around $40, but you have to buy in lots of 1000. It's probably a little better than your average PC surround system that you would buy at Staples, CompUSA, etc..., but you should know better than to buy from a bunch of knuckleheads in a truck. They are the Kirby Vacuum salesmen of the cheap speaker world.

What are the labels on the inputs in the white box at the top of the sub? there are six of them.

BTW, you don't need expensive cables. Digital coax and rca are the same thing-as long as they were made within the last few years.

Mandy,
Don't sweat it. We've all made silly errors. This is a small one.
Aren't you glad you didn't pay retail?

Those are your digital dvd player inputs. Solution is simple. Just go to that local A/V store, return those useless rca's, and get your $40 back. Now go to Walmart and pick up a $49 dvd player with the 5.1 digital outputs on the back. Pick up the necessary rca plugs at Walmart for under $10. You're back in business, and have an extra dvd player to boot.

I have 4 dvd players, and only one of them has the 5.1 outputs.

Pardon me Buck, but I don't see any digital coax or TOSLink on there at all. Those sound like a bunch of analog inputs.

You are correct. They are analog. They will still reproduce the 5.1 surround sound Mandy is looking for from the dvd player. Mandy's speaker set is 5.1, so there's no option (or reason) to run in 6.1 or 7.1 at the moment. Sorry for the confusion. That makes the website guilty of misleading the consumer.

I still can't get over the MSRP's on their products. Jaxvon, did you see the speakers that look almost identicle to the Canyon Audio's reviewed here earlier this year? It's amazing what comes off the boat, and in the quantities - unreal.

Yeah, I've seen them. Whatever...

Anyway, thanks for letting me know you're still sane. It's just that you said:

Those are your digital dvd player inputs.

I think you were referring to the player being digital, but as it reads, it sounds like those are digital inputs.
