Turns out that you dont need balls to enjoy music...

I upgraded from the 40's so the 100's are way more full in the mid range and dig a lot deeper.

Oh thats right.... sorry my bad.... haven't kept up for a while...

I was going to say, if you were upgrading from the 60's I wouldn't have said a word, and just plopped them down, on the outside you can't tell the difference... ;)

Both the 40's and the 60s are 2 1/2 way, while the 100's have the dedicated mid for a 3 way.... I can't say I notice a huge amount of difference between the Sig S4's and the Studio 100's but I haven't taken the time to do a side by side, but I can tell the 100's have a touch more presence in the mids, but on the other hand the vote of accuracy, clarity and sound staging goes to the S4's..... but not by a great margin...

So did I miss the part where you say which receiver you will be buying next?

I guess you had to choose between Receiver vs. Speakers, but not both? So looks like you're stuck with your current receiver for another year at least?:D

I hear you!:D

I could sneak in the $7,500 Denon AVP-A1HDCI and my wife wouldn't even notice. If she does ask, my response would be, "No, honey, I've had that for 10 years now.":D

I'm curious as to why you're looking at a receiver at all, since you have the MPS-1 already. I know it's easy to run a receiver as a pre/pro. I'm doing that myself, but I don't like the thought of powering all the unused amp channels in the receiver all the time for no effect.

Would an Integra or Onkyo Pro processor work for you? There's supposed to be a lot more of the new HDMI 1.3a units on the market later this year too, Marantz, Rotel, Emotiva, maybe others.

The main reason was I needed to upgrade something. The secondary reason is that I need HDMI but in no big hurry now so I will wait and see who comes out with what...

Yeah, we all kind of sound alike.:D

I need to upgrade something constantly too - speakers, processor, projector - whatever it takes.:D

And if they come out with 4K TVs and Purple-Ray players, I'll be the first in line.:D

According to Al Hanson 2/19/2008

And Hansen may yet be proven right again for his next statement.

"...The reality is that there won't be strong market penetration in the US for *any* new format until the price drops below $200 for a player. (That's exactly what happened for DVD.) But that would erase the entire reason for even making Blu-Ray players. Once the players become a commodity, the Japanese cannot compete against the Chinese. Then they'll try and sell you Purple-Ray..."

Yes. It's going to be called Purple-Ray! :D:D You heard it here first.
