Nice car for driving kids to schoolTo be honest, I was surprised (and impressed) that the Veyron was as quick round the track as it managed. There was no way it was ever going to be uber quick given the mass, but it still put in a mighty impressive time - kudos to the engineers.
The Caparo is amazing, but was of course 'disqualified' as it can't go over speed bumps. I believe the quickest car they'd consider legal on the course is one they've never filmed - an Ultima GTR. It's that age old classic - a lightweight, great handling British car, with a huge Yank V8 shoehorned in.

Oh, and Top Gear in Italiano è molto sconosciuta*!
* Perhaps "bizzarro" is better... mio Italiano è non molto bene...
Which one?Nice car for driving kids to school![]()
All of them, but it's trouble with three kids and a two seater thoughWhich one?(I'd like them all)
There is a guy with a GTR in my area (I see it every few weeks in my nearest town). It's red, but I doubt it's the one in the video! If I find out where he lives, I'll be round to nick it.
Easy. One in the passenger seat, one in the trunk, one... oh wait. OK. One in the passenger seat, two on the roof rack. You can get a roof rack for a Veyron right? All of them, but it's trouble with three kids and a two seater though![]()
That sounds like Mumbai / India style of driving...Easy. One in the passenger seat, one in the trunk, one... oh wait. OK. One in the passenger seat, two on the roof rack. You can get a roof rack for a Veyron right?![]()
I have seen this video over and over again, and my two daughters tooThe Bugatti is SICK...........

Check out the above clip. The Bugatti has over 1,000HP and cost $1.6MILL
As a suspected, deflection. So, did you have a reason for asking about my car, or were you just being a jack ass?
Deflection as suspected? I responded to your post with specs on my car. It's not my fault you chose to ignore them.As a suspected, deflection.
Just being a jackass? When am I not?

I didn't even seen them, I thought it was posted on the second page (40 posts per page).Deflection as suspected? I responded to your post with specs on my car. It's not my fault you chose to ignore them.
Unless, of course, you are referring to you changing the subject when your Ariel Atom video backfired. If that's the case, you are guilty of ad hominem and are disqualified from the discussion. I'm ok with that.![]()
Ugh. When did I EVER say that V8s were in ANY way better? When? Where?I didn't even seen them, I thought it was posted on the second page (40 posts per page).
Ah, here they are.
"Thunderbird? Yes. Orange? No, alpine green with oxidation.
I've never dyno'd it, but Ford specs say 205hp/280lb/ft tq. With my intake and exhaust it's good for 15s in the 1/4. Plenty slow.
Why?"
I was hoping for more detail. Like displacement, redline, weight. Even then, 15s with a v8 isn't very good. The 88-91 Si is 16 flat bone stock. My old civic with the head swap was good for 15 flat with a tune. When my SiR swap is done, I will be in the 14s. I don't understand your V8 logic. Clearly, it's a lose lose situation. More expensive to run, and slower. Also, if you keep the exhaust stock on 4 cylinders, they don't make the typical 4 banger noise. Are you really that concerned about the noise a car makes so much you're willing to drive an inferior car?
SheepStar
Not to mention there are millions of them out there. If something breaks, there are plenty to choose from at the pick-n-pull. On my first bird, someone backed into the front of it and crunched the bumper cover. I went to the junk yard and pulled one off that was the same color, didn't even have to paint it.Go T-Birds!!! I got a 96 4.6L, maybe not the fastest car out there, but it's a great daily driver, reliable, comfortable, and decent ride.
I was making an assumption based on how you never drive anything but a V8. If it isn't better, why would you still have it? Seems foolish.Ugh. When did I EVER say that V8s were in ANY way better? When? Where?
That's fine.I SAID that I won't drive something that sounds like a weed eater. I even admitted in my post that there are PLENTY of 4/6 cyl cars that are faster than mine. Pay attention.
Fair enough, but if those are your criteria, then there is many better choices IMO.Ford, in their infinite wisdom, de-tuned the 4.6L in the Thunderbirds so they wouldn't be on par with their precious Mustang. I didn't buy it because it was fast, it's obviously not. I bought it because it's comfortable to drive and reliable.
An SiR is stock, so is the Si.How stupid is your argument? My car with X mod will beat your stock one? Fail.
Actually, they are. Many race cars use factory Honda engines and upgrade the internals, such as pistons, rods, crank and different, stronger sleeves. The biggest hurdle is the wet sump oil system. Add an oil accumulator and you won't have to worry about lateral Gs exposing the oil pickup. It depends on the type of racing. Most drag cars will have Forced induction to make the extra power, though there is some 10 second Naturally Aspirated cars out there.Anyone who says that any one engine is the end all be all is ignorant. If your 4 banger was all that and a bag of chips, then that's what everyone would be modding. Get real.
You think the heat shield around the filter is going to make **** all of a difference? This is why you should stay away from the technical side of car arguments, you don't understand anything about how they work. First of all, the PIPE will get warm at the throttle body. A little shield won't do squat. Second, the most popular form of intake for NA cars is ITBs. Literally, 1 throttle body per cylinder, with a short trumpet intake pipe. These make the most top end horse and have a fairly flat torque curve. Any NA race car runs these. You're going to tell me they don't work? Look at your old school V8s. They have a carburetor, air filter element, and... nothing! You can use a cowl induction hood to bring cold air straight over the engine. Commonly, you put washers between the hood and hinges and it creates the same effect. Lastly, most PCI and EGR systems negate the different in temperature, so you make power from the short pipe with better flow, not "cold air".This is also coming from the guy who put a cone filter in his engine bay with no heat shield so it could suck up all that nice, hot, engine air. Good job on that.![]()
Stereotypical comments make you look immature and naive. They further show your lack of understanding, and your own, blatant fanboyism. Until you understand the topic at hand, there is no need for me to continue debating this with you.Go play with your Nawwwz, fanboy.
You have no idea, do you? A car isn't just the engine. I'm tall, I need a larger car to fit myself and whatever I want to put in there. I certainly wouldn't want to drive a 2 ton car that had a 4cyl. I also prefer having a larger car because that's what I prefer. I should be entitled to that.I was making an assumption based on how you never drive anything but a V8. If it isn't better, why would you still have it? Seems foolish.
Congratulations, you have an opinion and you are welcomed to it. Buying that car was mine, and to call me foolish for it is rather insulting. Thanks.Fair enough, but if those are your criteria, then there is many better choices IMO.
If it is already stock on your car, why are you changing it? Oh, it's not on your car, so it's modification. I could put stock parts from Mustangs in my car to improve performance, but I wouldn't say it was still stock. If you mod it, it's modded. An SiR is stock, so is the Si.
Many? Is that all? No. That means someone else out there is doing the same thing with something else. Hell, there are even some 12 second N/A T-Birds out there that are still streetable. Open your mind.Actually, they are. Obviously it gets hotter traveling through the tube, so you think it's ok to make it even hotter so your computer compensates for the low air density by injecting less fuel? Yeah, that makes more power. Starting with colder air will end with colder air.You think the heat shield around the filter is going to make **** all of a difference? This is why you should stay away from the technical side of car arguments, you don't understand anything about how they work. First of all, the PIPE will get warm at the throttle body. The only reason I said that was because you made false assumptions about me. Sucks when that happens, doesn't it? You assume that since I prefer my V8, that I think everything else is crap when that simply is not the case. I have yet to say which one I think is better overall, I just said which I prefer. There are better speakers out there than the ones I have for the price I paid, but I prefer mine because I like how they sound. That doesn't mean I think they are the best thing since sliced bread. YOU need to look at your own, blatant fanboyism and stop harassing me for my preferences.Stereotypical comments make you look immature and naive. They further show your lack of understanding, and your own, blatant fanboyism. Until you understand the topic at hand, there is no need for me to continue debating this with you.

So I would be correct in assuming you thought a smaller car can't fit large people, and that a small car can't fit as much stuff? I've had 6'7" people in my hatch, and with the rear seats folded down, it can hold more stuff then a 4 door sedan, thanks to it's hatchback. You have no idea, do you? A car isn't just the engine. I'm tall, I need a larger car to fit myself and whatever I want to put in there. I certainly wouldn't want to drive a 2 ton car that had a 4cyl. That's fine, but you're failing to see that calling the car I drive a weed wacker as an insult. It clearly isn't a weed wacker, and from what I've said, and you've admitted, that the cars from the factory, are quicker then your car. If you're fine with that great, but realize that people will get offended when you say something like that. I'm not one to judge, I do it all the time, but I'm also prepared to deal with people getting upset. You seem to think you've been playing nice.Congratulations, you have an opinion and you are welcomed to it. Buying that car was mine, and to call me foolish for it is rather insulting. Thanks.
It's not stock on my exact car, but it was an option on the Japanese and European versions. Swapping everything over to make the SiR engine work is still compliant with factory specifications, it's a straight bolt in. My current Engine is bagged from previous owners, and the Clutch, and transmission need overhauls. If it is already stock on your car, why are you changing it? Oh, it's not on your car, so it's modification. I could put stock parts from Mustangs in my car to improve performance, but I wouldn't say it was still stock. If you mod it, it's modded.
Many refers to most. Most streetable 10 sec and slower Honda's are using factory Honda engine components mixed with some forged aftermarket parts and fuel management (some even faster). Also, a 4.6 liter running 12 is not that impressive. With less then half the displacement, Honda's run the same time. Just pointing out the perspective. Many? Is that all? No. That means someone else out there is doing the same thing with something else. Hell, there are even some 12 second N/A T-Birds out there that are still streetable. Open your mind.
The fact the engine can get more air is where it will make the power. Small changes with temperature are not going to be large enough to make a perceivable difference. You'd be better off doing what everyone else does, run your car in the mornings when the air is significantly colder (race applications, who cares on the road) or at night. If it wasn't for the weather, drag cars would have their fastest times during this season.Obviously it gets hotter traveling through the tube, so you think it's ok to make it even hotter so your computer compensates for the low air density by injecting less fuel? Yeah, that makes more power. Starting with colder air will end with colder air.
Air intake temperature is used to correct fuel quantity (pulse width) since air temperature effects air density. (colder air is much more dense) Approximately 70°F is generally used for 0 correction, temperatures above will result in less fuel to compensate for the lower air density, and conversely temperatures below 70° will result in steadily richer (by volume) mixtures. Bad readings will effect ECM attempts to keep the air to fuel ratio proportional.
Older carburetor engines don't have a computer controlling fuel injection based on air temp going into the engine, so it makes little difference.
I'm not harassing your for your preferences, but I am using it to get back at your for insulting my car. If you want me to stop, don't insult me.The only reason I said that was because you made false assumptions about me. Sucks when that happens, doesn't it?
