Then how come you didn't leave your name when you gave me a red chicklet? I left my name....even said I was sorry about having to give you one.

I need something to cover-up these grey hairs. That's a pretty mature statement. Did you get it from your dad?

The little space below it is for you to type a message to the person receiving the chicklet.

Your? Chicklet? User CP

I know it didn't ask you for your name. But I would think someone that is manly would give it.

I only posted the thread about Sheep and Mulester7 (hate that name) because I thought it would make some fun thought provoking banter to pass time while waiting on more CES 2006 info. Everyone here totally read between the lines and disregarded the sarcasm.

Sheep is a cool dude, and he is fairly new around here but has made alot of contributing posts. The use of this forum is to seek the guidence of many, then use the collected info to secure the best means of action.

By the way, duke44jb got his system going.;)
Of course, if he used s-video for everything he can't get 480p or HDTV out of the system.

It may be more confusing, but when setting up a system the best connection should be used. According to your instructions, he should be using the s-video connection which will not allow for this level of quality.

I'm not sure why you would think that 'you've got this' - when s-video is not the proper way to set things up.

You must read the whole thread, look at all the pictures, and so-on. He didn't let me know he had a set of component cables for the dvd player until later in the thread. I was trying to get him going with what he had. Then, after he told me he had more cables, I had him disconnect the s-video and run component straight to the tv. You see, this is the problem. Sheep came in after I had spent hours finding out new information from the person needing help. And, like you, he skimmed the thread.

I am sure this probably screws up everything you just told me to do. I know, I know....I'm a knucklehead.

Oops. Like you said, you forgot those pictures. O.K., forget about the s-video connections. Connect the red, yellow, and blue from the dvd to the tv where you have it. Now, to get 5.1 you are going to have to connect the coaxial from the dvd to the receiver as I mentioned. Depending on your dvd player, you may be able to leave the red and white (audio) connections between the dvd player and the tv connected for viewing a dvd with tv sound(if you want the stereo off). Your dvd manual will state if it outputs (audio) simultaneously.

OK, time to fix this mess.

Leave your cable box as it was. It was set up fine.

Did you check to see if your receiver was in stereo? If it was, it won't play all 5 speakers.

Use your optical cable to send digital audio to your receiver. Those other cables are regular analog cables and are not 75ohm stable.

Send ONLY PICTURE to your TV. Send ALL audio to your receiver.

Theres no need to send video to your receiver. Its just another cable needed for absolutely no gain.

If you want to use the DVI output on your cable box, you can get a DVI to HDMI cable that will work with your TV, freeing up a set of component cables for you DVD player.

If you want HD dvd, then you have to send picture to your receiver. But, it has ot be able to up convert. I am not familiar with your receiver so I don't know if it will work.

Wiring stereos it hard to explain over a forum, and it was very helpful that you had pictures.
