Subsidies and cuts should be able to coexist- the whole point (I hope) of DOGE is to eliminate the frivolous spending- if you have seen some of the grants and the money handed out, I would hope EVERYONE'S response would be 'WTF ARE THEY DOING?". Several websites are available to see this and if you're old enough, you may remember WI Senator William Proxmire, who had a 'Golden Fleese Award' for stupid government spending. If this waste is stopped, it can be used for something better and eventually, the government debt can be serviced.

Unfortunately, stupid government spending to one politician is constituent service or Congressional District benefit to another! The Congress had implemented no Pork Barrel policy for several years then they reversed themselves.

Any for profit entity that receives cash subsidies, grants or other forms of government aid should be required to pay it back with non tax deductible interest when they become profitable entity. That's fair deal for tax payers. If it is a non cash transaction such as land grant, then the entity should pay back equivalent to the developed value of the land.
