The Poorman's Version of...

I really only have one more room to build a sub for and it doesn't have to be pretty by any stretch of the means, it'll just be a game room in the basement basically for background music.... I don't like other forms of subs - its sealed for me and nothing else will do it in terms of accuracy or the nature of its SQ over other designs...

I have said this many times before but, personally I do not care to have a port contributing in any way to the sound signature presented, I prefer a driver system that retains its air spring/driver loading. I also lean towards a manageable, heavily braced cabinet size, where the rear wave is isolated from the front wave. For my bass reproduction I'd rather not hear the subwoofer, just the sound.

I should have a price estimate tonight (my time). Looking at a quad baffled design to recess the drivers enough to use a grill.

I've been thinking what to do for the finish color wise. A unobtrusive brown might work similar to what Mike C. posted or maybe something off the wall like Hulk green. I've been browsing the DIY galleries at AVS, HTS and elsewhere and most of the the projects are either done in some form of black or wood veneer. Nothing has really caught my eye yet.

Well, guess this isn't going to happen, they never did get back to me.

Could be for the better. I kind of lost interest in doing a DIY project in the middle of an impending move and all. I'll probably sit on this for a couple months at least and reevaluate my options.

Sad to hear Matt. I was looking forward to some photos soon. :(

Totally understand about the impending move though. Not a food time to start a project resulting in a 100lb+ shipping item!!!

Yeah, I was emailing back and forth with Brett then two weeks ago nothing. Oh well.

The military hires contractors to move all our stuff so no skin off my back how heavy the projects are.;)
