It's unfortunate Sony can't properly design a product after decades of practice and inventing the very media being played lol.
Oh yeah they are the ones who invented the disc right? forgot about that one.

Sony UBP-X1100ES. It outputs multi-channel SACD via HDMI and has a built in DAC outputting analog stereo. The Panasonic Players do not play SACD.

Yep, it's a bit more complicated then just that but, basically Sony = Blu-ray and Toshiba = HD-DVD.

Sony won the battle as we know and here some 21 years later, they still apparently can't build a well engineered player. It's kind of ridiculous really...

So again little confused here at what setting to set for best ATMOS audio sent to Denon 6700??

Should it be Bit or PCM or Auto???

Bitstream.

Basically if you set to PCM your Blu-ray player will do the decoding(if it can and most can only do Dolby True-HD or DTS-HD MA) but, with Bitstream the AVR will handle it.

Make sure you get "Atmos" displayed on your AVR.

On Sony the options are Auto or PCM. So you choose Auto. That’s what will give you bitstream. :)

Yeah, go Auto, that is what i've found sounds best. not PCM.
