Both the men's and the women's downhills were crazy!!:D

Vonn is my dream woman. She is way hot and can ski better than me.

Hopefully Mr. White will kick some butt in the half pipe tonight.

Shaun White is such a sell out, and while he is one of the best, I would have preferred anyone on top other than him. I am so sick of hear about him.

As for skiing, I am REALLY bummed this year. With both Ted Ligety and Daron Rahlves it kinda sucks, because I really don't enjoy cheering for Bode Miller.

I think Lindsey Vonn is the only person on the US ski team that I can really cheer for, although I think that the media has latched itself onto her sweeping the competition way too much. Let her ski and get whatever medals she get's. She's already got one gold, we and her should be more than happy with that, but the media is all like "OH SHE COULD GET GOLD IN ALL THESE EVENT." Media shold DIAF

I've been really enjoying the Olympics so far. Tonight was especially good with women's down hill and half pipe. There were some nasty spills by the ladies, but I was very glad that Vonn nailed her run. White kind of makes the half pipe an exhibition, but still fun to watch. I usually can't see the nuances in scoring with some of these events, but with his performance it is fairly easy to pick up on. This is my first Winter games on 50" plasma. Really makes a huge difference.

You're way behind the times. This is the 4th Olympics I've watched on my 57" HDTV. :p

Shaun White had the illest halfpipe runs I have ever seen, he very much deserved to win the gold. That doube mctwist he stuck at the end of his second run was just downright amazing, it was the sickest thing I have ever seen on a snowboard.

Yeah, completely agree. Shaun is a nasty nasty man on the snowboard. You can tell from his first hit that he really is head and shoulders above anybody else in the sport. Whats amazing is his ability to deliver on demand. Absolutely incredible.

The two things I notice about Shaun is that even someone who knows nothing about snowboarding and half pipes, notices imediately that what he's doing is at a far higher level. The second things is, he looks completely relaxed when he does it. From the very first air he got, you could just see that he was 5-10 feet higher than the next highest person. It's amazing to watch.

I'm glad Vonn won, but I'm sicking of hearing about her shin. There's few competitors who aren't wrestling with some sort of issue. It's great, I love it, but enough already.

I'll show my a$$ here and admit that I really like to watch the figure skating events. I guess I just remember always watching as a kid with my mom. I just have an appreciation for the athleticism and artistry and how the two things blend. What I'm not happy about is the caliber of performance. I'm tired of watching everyone triple their qaudrupal, double their triple, or just outright fall down. It's seems it's the one sport that has actually regressed in performance. If you can't land a triple, why are you even skating to be at this level of competition? That I don't get. I'm tired of hearing the announcers say, "well he/she was never going to be a contender... that performance/skill level is not at the top level , but he's certainly got to be happy with his performance ... his olympics." What is that? This is a competition I thought... the best of the best. If you can't perform at an olympic level, why are you there? I mean if everyone is running 4 minute mile and you can only run a 5 minute mile, what would be the purpose, other than selfish reasons, to go to the olympics? Perhaps I'm missing some of the finer points of the games, but I want to see top people performaing their very best. I've noticed with figure skaters that they have very bland routines and thier ability to land the same jumps that have been in place for 2 decades seem to be out of their reach.

Lastly, I have always hated NBC's coverage. This olympics just confirms it. They seem more concerned with hearing themselves speak then letting see these athletes who've sacrificed so much to be there do what they do. These constant breaks in action to showcase some correspondent's feel good piece is just outright insulting. Hopefully FOX will get it one day. I think their sports coverage is superior to any other network these days.

You guys are enjoying the Olympics!? Haven't you heard? These games have been terrible! Well, according to the British press anyway. I think they have nothing else to write about, because the few winter athletes they have, generally suck.

I'm just looking forward to when the hockey games become competitive. That said, Team Canada lost to the Swiss :confused: in Turin. Don't think that will happen tonight though. I really want to see a Canada/US or Canada/Russia gold medal game. I predict Canada/Russia or Canada/Sweden.

Sorry, but I don't think the US team will make it to the final, IMHO. The forwards are very young and their speed will not make up for the lack of experience. However, Ryan Miller in goal could make Team USA a giant killer. A hot goaltender can make the difference in a short tournament like this.

Canada could defeat our own team by the pressure being applied. 35,000,000 people weigh an awful lot. Any more pressure and they'll have to have defibrillators in the locker room.

Just watch out for the Lamoureux twins!

The whole family are expert hockey players, except the mother who is a champion swimmer and triathlon athlete. They were neighbors of ours in Grand Forks. Both my daughters baby sat them. The grandmother was a long time nurse on our cardiac floor at Altru Health Systems Grand Forks.

We have tickets to the Women's ice hockey final in Vancouver next week, so I hope they make it to the finals. We fly out of MPS on Wednesday. We will be staying with close friends who now live in White Rock BC very near the stadium. They are both physicians and colleagues from my days in Manitoba.

They are from Huddersfield Yorkshire, and Bob has lost none of his Yorkshire accent in over 40 years, nor any of the Yorkshireman's colorful phraseology!

So what ever happens we will have a good time.

I was referring to men's hockey. With the women, it's a forgone conclusion as to who'll be in the gold medal game. However, Canada and the USA are so evenly matched, it's anybody's guess as to who will win gold.

The Canadian women have been accused of poor sportsmanship in racking up the score against lesser opponents. However, with goal differential used to break a tie in the standings, they have little choice. When the US women thrashed the Russians 13-0, what can you expect?

It's too bad really. It would be nice if women's hockey was more competitive, as it would certainly be more entertaining.

I hope you enjoy the game! I'm jealous!:)

The snowboarding was awesome. Shawn White deserved the gold. That 2nd trick after he already won, was even better. I think he could do it because he had nothing to loose. It was awesome.

I saw the medals for the women's DH, but I got to watch the event. I recorded, so I got to watch it.

I am ashamed to say before you all, that I think we need to have all the hotter female athletes pose in swimsuits. It could be another means of tie breaking with internet voting if needed. I would like all your support in having myself be the supreme leader of the Olympic committee in all respects. As one of my first acts I will mandate that all figure skating competitions will mandate either thongs or g-strings as well as Brazilian undies with points being added to the score in proportion to the skimpiness. Men are categorically excluded. I also want the same thing for the women curling competitors with cameras being directed from the back of the curler rather than the front. This should increase revenues, encourage shaving which will spur the economy by generating sales from products, coverage, and so forth. Won't you please assist me in this? I won't let you down.

You answered your own question with your Shaun White comment. There are always gonna be a few standout athletes (or one) and the rest are just there. Its that way in any sport.

As an example, wouldn't you rather see Maria Sharapova not wearing the Nike shorts as well as eating a banana?

or Jelena Jankovic in the attire I'd mandate?
