Damn, I still haven't had a chance to see World's Fastest Indian - it looked really good.

This is actually a mainly true story about a cranky, retired, frail, eccentric New Zealander who decides to set a land speed record on a 40 year old motorcycle tweaked with parts he made in his garage. It would be pretty rediculous except that Bert Monro did exactly that and set about 6 records. Anthony Hopkins is his usual excellent self as his trip to the Bonneville salt flats takes him past all sorts of off-center characters.

I haven't sen the Illusionist yet, but I just went and saw The Prestiege this afternoon. In my opinion it was a fantastic movie. Definately one of the better films that I have seen all year. It is not what I would call an effects movie, definately a plot driven one but there are several scenes with immersive audio. Definately worth seeng this one.

I saw the Prestige yesterday and the Illusionist last week. There isn't even a comparison. The Prestige was o.k. The Illusionist was......prestigous!

I loved both the Illusionist and Prestige. I thought Presige was somewhat difficult to understand due to all the turnabouts in the end, but that all fascinated me and made me want to see it again. I got a charge (so to speak) out of seeing Nicola Tesla show up as a character. He is one of my favorite visionary people. Many of the scenes where he shows up are staged to look like photos of the real Tesla, most notably him in a big chage surrounded by 30 foot arcs of electrical energy. It helps, in Prestige, to know the story of Tesla, Edison, Westinghouse and the "War of Currents", since there were numerous references in the script. I think the Illusionist had a slight edge, mainly because of the scary energy of Edward Norton and his chemistry with Paul Giamati, but both were great period pieces.

I saw it the other day and it is quite good. My only issues were that it was a bit too predictable and I could have done without the "revelation" scene ala Sixth Sense. It was well written, nicely shot and the characters were very well presented IMO. Overall I give it high marks.
