This was a thoroughly entertaining movie to watch on the big screen and is worthy of a BluRay spot on my shelf. The effects were good, the acting was good in most parts and the special effects were used intelligently to support the story instead of being the story. There were lots of use of the surrrounds in this one and the bass in this movie although not killer was very effective. I recommend this film.

At least I'm not the only one who made the mistake. :D

In my case I waited for a few minutes hoping that the cartoon was just the intro.

Am I the first one here who watched the Blu-ray?

In any case, I guess I'm not too hard to please. Either that, or I was just thrilled to see a comic I've grown up with made into a movie.

I likes it. The picture was of great quality and the sound sis what it was supposed to. It rumbled when it should and didn't when it wasn't needed.

As for plot, it was mostly an origins story and was a bit heavy on the exposition. That part may have been a bit long-winded but it was well done. Also, itwas f airly faithful to the mythos and captured the visuals of the era covered quite nicely. They did a very, very good job of realizing his GL buddies nd OA as well.

There was some literary license (Heck, it's only a comic book!) in that the bloated, warty, secondary villain was a buddy from his youth, and, IIRC, a totally new villain (I might have missed him when I read the comics) and Parallax, the main baddie, was taken totally out of context from the DC world, but he was put to good use here. IOW, Parallax was a "real" baddie, but not the one portrayed here, nor in the same time frame.

As for that. the CGI for Parallax and Oa was great, INNSHO. As for Ryan Reynolds, you either like him or you don't. I do. I think his inherent mix of charm and chutzpah was perfect for the role of a well-intentioned, but flawed, human with potential who was forced to grow into a super hero.

All in all, a great popcorn muncher.

Oh, I did NOT see this in the movies so I cannot compare it to that. As such, maybe I'm either more biased, or less critical. Who knows?

As time goes on, I find myself more and more forgoing the theaters in favor of waiting for the blu-ray to be released. Even when we do buy something we've seen in the theater, we seem to enjoy these more at home than in the theatres anyway. Lass noise, more comfortable seats, better and cheaper snacks, we can pause for potty breaks, and we can watch it in our undies. ..and the picture and sound is at least as good as the best theatres around here, not counting a "real" IMAX theatre.

Anybody else have any observations?

I picked it up on Friday as planned but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. A membe of my wife's family passed away on Saturday and it kinda put a damper on things for a while.

Finally got some time to sit down and watch this flick. Its definately worth a rental and if you are into superheroes this is a must one's collection. The BluRay came out very well. The CGI images and other special affects were crisp an clean, the bass was abundant and the surrounds offered the right amount of blend to support the action.

I thought about this when I watched the movie last week. It starts with a commercial for the new animated series coming out. For a brief second, I thought to myself, "No way did I get the wrong movie too?????"

As for the movie, I thought it was pretty lame. I didn't like the change they made to the suit and it was just overall boring. I can't really put my finger on it but I just couldn't get into the movie. I thought the guy that played Sinestro was cool though. I've never really found Blake Lively attractive but she was pretty hot in this one. Maybe it was the dark hair.

And am I the only one that was thinking that it was a tad strange that Hal Jordan became a test pilot when he witnessed his dad going up in a fireball after crashing on a test flight himself? Would that be pretty tramautic for a kid?
