Came up with this when trying to find out when THE DARK KNIGHT is coming out.

This should be another {Iron man reference} huge release, can't wait. And also The Hulk {the good one} comes out Oct 21. I think we'll be having lots of company for a few months. Already have quite a waiting list for Iron man;).

There is only ONE scene in the movie, the opening scene (6 minues), that is in IMAX. You could see the aspect ratio change in the theater. The version that is on the BD has been available for some time on the current Batman Begins BD and it looked great. I don't think it will be an issue at all on the disc, but it was noticeable in the theater.

The BD is up for preorder on WB: http://whv.warnerbros.com/WHVPORTAL/Portal/product.jsp?OID=70041 You can get free shipping with $50 or more and use the codeword listed in the Deals area here to get 30% off (I just ordered mine :D $18.87).

I believe there are six IMAX sequences in the movie.

We were both wrong:

For its release in IMAX theaters, Nolan shot four major sequences in that format, including the Joker's introduction, and said that he wished that it were possible to shoot the entire film in IMAX: "if you could take an IMAX camera to Mount Everest or outer space, you could use it in a feature movie." For fifteen years Nolan had wanted to shoot in the IMAX format, and he used it also for "quiet scenes which pictorially we thought would be interesting."

Used a Warners Code- with free shipping I picked up Dark Knight, LA Confidential, and The Untouchables for $55 pre-tax. Can't complain about that!!

I preordered it over a month ago for $18.88 and just got an email that my order was cancelled due to a problem  They had better honor that price.

It took a number of calls, but they did allow me to place a new order and gave me the 30% off and free shipping due to the mistaken cancellation. +1 for Warner customer service.

Hopefully, Dark Knight BD will be as good as HULK BD since IRON MAN BD was not as good as HULK BD IMO.

Yes, The new HULK(Edward Norton)movie was a bit better on BD than Iron Man was IMHO. It Seemed as though THE HULK's special effects team went and "Beefed up" whatever effects they felt looked(and sounded)a bit weak in IRON MAN.
On another note, I did a Double feature HULK night when we watched the new HULK movie(BD). I went and purchased a new HD DVD copy of the first HULK movie.(Nick Nolte, Sam Elliott), and I already had my new copy of The recent version on Blu Ray in hand.(Ed Norton).
It was truly a night of ground shaking performances!. It was also nice to see that they kind of picked up where the 1st one had left off, in a round about way. Hell, it looked as though they really went out of their way to make sure that Willliam Hurt's character(the general)looked just like Sam Elliotts rendition of that same charecter in the previous HULK movie.
If anyone has "Buttkickers" in there theater chairs or couches, you are in for one hell of a treat. The LFE was right on, on both the 1st Hulk movie, and the new one too! Everytime that Big Green Giant took a step, the whole room sounded and felt as if it were going to just split in two!
I highly recommend that people watch both versions back to back. What a blast!! :D

Oh, almost forgot. I pre-ordered The Dark Night on BD too! Can't wait for that to come out. Think we'll do another double feature night in my HT when I get it. Batman Begins(I still haven't opened or watched my HD DVD copy of that movie), and then The Dark Knight. Should be another great double feature night.

I have DK on preorder, and look forward to watching it. However, its too bad that Warner doesn't do a better job, especially with such a huge title, and a budget to work with.

The Dark Knight comparison *PIX*

There's going to be too much EE in the BD release. Also, the colors don't look near as good as the DK preview on Batman Begins BD.

These are still frames. Just like when they have discussed this in the past, I have viewed a number of films that these guys complain about and found no major issues. You won't notice a lot of this stuff while the film is actually playing. I didn't think the PQ was that great for this film in the theater, and that is to be expected considering its extremely dark pallette.

Thanks your input here, j. Ya know, this is the ONLY movie I saw in the theater this year. I thought to myself that I should have waited for the BD, because I fully predicted it would look so much better at home.

While that may or may not be the case, you do have a point about the darker color palette. OTOH, some dark films like the Underworld series look very, very good.

I notice this type of stuff. Admittedly, I am trying to do it to a lesser extent. Still, I do try to support better transfers with my money when I can. In this case, I want the movie anyways, and I will end up supporting a less than ideal transfer, which I am led to believe did not have to be the case.

And if my PQ expectations are to be lowered, I do hope to be more easily satisfied. :p
