Very nice blue. The drivers on your speakers look very impressive. I believe that Energy, Mirage, and Athena all make very nice sounding speakers. Good choice!!!!
 
I'm a sucker for woven carbon fiber or kevlar, I like those speakers even more without the grills. It doesn't matter where the stands were made or by whom, as long as they work and are sharp looking. I think you've got both.

Are folks refering to the black, platforms that are under the towers? Those I made myself. The speaker stands (ie, the 2 stands in the couch pic) are the no name stands I bought locally.

I decided to exchange the Pioneer 918 for the Yamaha 6160 before my 30 day exchange window was up. Best Buy in Canada has a sale and I basically got it for the same price as the 918. Powerwise, they seem to be similar. But the Yamaha has Pre-outs which I may use in the future. Plus, the Scene buttons will be really useful for my girlfriend who still doesn't know how to operate a DVD player.
 
Great pictures. Allowed me to feel like I got to open up a new toy, too. Partially keeps down the desire to go buy something new for myself. :)
 
Nice Receiver congrats, gotta love BB at Magnolia Theatre I beleive I tested around 6 at my house until I finally fell in love my Pioneer 94

I'll give you a basic idea right now.

The Pioneer 918 seemed louder (keep in mind, this is just using the auto mic setup with minor manual adjustments on both receivers: ie. YPAO and MCACC).

The Yamaha seems smoother, ie, less harsh when pushed. Could be because the Yamaha may have more available power. Who knows.

I do like the the ergonomics of the new Yamaha remote, but none of the buttons glow. It's impossible to see what you are pressing if you have a darkened room. Whoever designed the remote is an idiot. It feels really cheap and light compared to the old Yamaha remote, which had the main buttons glowing in the dark.

I don't know why manufacturers don't offer a backlight button. It's not difficult to implement. My projector's remote has backlighting and it's fantastic.

The Surround Cinema modes are nice. You can actually tell the difference between "Adventure" and "Spectacle". The Scene buttons are a Godsend for me. My girlfriend can simply hit "Scene1" and see "PS3 Blu-ray" light up on the Yamaha. This makes it so much easier for others to use. It extremely convinient to have one button have all your surround presets assigned to an input.

HAHA I thought I was the only one saying that. Every time I open a box I inhale the new stuff's scent! Then it's the "hold the box honey while I pull out this monster" step. And sometimes when I push the speakers a little (especially the subwoofer), you can smell that scent a bit again and it just makes the experience better.

No its a addictive coating they apply at the factory :D
