If you can find it somewhere, Take Shelter is an excellent psychological thriller. Michael Shannon is terrific as Curtis, a heartland guy with an enviable wife (Jessica Chastain), a decent job and a deaf daughter. One day he starts to have bad, traumatizing dreams that center on a coming horrific tornado and he becomes obsessed with building a serious shelter that his family can hide in for a few weeks. He has a family history of schizophrenia. Is he crazy or are these "real" premonitions? Chastain is excellent as his wife who is coping as best as possible with him and her deaf daughter and their increasingly precarious economic situation. This is a little, low budget movie with only a few basic FX, but it's well worth seeing.
