Switching driver, will this be better........?

I have a INFPS212 (Infinity 12", 400w)
The driver seems somewhat flimsy and cheap. I have one of the older Infinity Kappa 12" car audio subs. (translucent green cone) It is a single coil and 4ohm, just like the driver already in the enclosure.
Would it be worth while to swap out these drivers??

I guess if you have time and feel like experimenting I would say
go ahead and switch them out and see what your ears think....

You can not change drivers. The chance of the bass tuning being correct is so remote you can forget it. Every driver has unique Thiel/Small parameters and the enclosure dimensions and porting are determined by those parameters.

You have to keep in mind that most people dont have any idea about designing an enclosure around a driver for optimum performance.

Of course you can change it and it might be better. might be worse. But it probably wont be ideal. Never know until you try.

Well this is the box and port he will need. Sealed the F3 is 45 Hz.

It turns out that driver will make a very nice sub in a box that is not overly large and you can just get away without a slot vent, although the port tube length ends up being quite long. Vent velocity air speed is 25 m/sec. Full details here.
