All the looks and stuff aside, what type of sub would you recommend? I am thinking of going with the PB12-ISD/2 or the PB12-PLUS, which one would be better for movies and games? I have a 14' by 12' room with 7' ceiling.
!!!!!14 by 12!!!!!!

Get a PB-10 LOL!

the PB-12plus will be fine for output, but much cleaner then the ISD/2.

.....Guiseppe, my first choice for Home Theater would be two Cylinder 16-46+'s as I said....second, since you obviously lean toward down-firing as most do, would be two PB12 ISD/V's, which have an oversized box for lower lows and rumbles....for a compromise between HT and Music, I would go with two PB12-Plus's, or two PB12-Ultra's....yes, I want two subs no matter how effective they are, or how large....I firmly believe what is best, is two subs "in" the front soundstage, split equally from the middle toward the front corners to taste, supporting the soundstage....both can be set at a lower volume being the strength of two, and longevity of the elements then comes into play....SVS is the only commercial subs I have ever owned, and I suspect it will stay that way....why deviate from proven success in and of ownership?.....and lastly, Giuseppe, how's Pinocchio?......

.....Samurai SheepStar, I've said it a few times, and I'll say it again....were I to have to replace the two box subs I have from SVS, I would get two PB10's....for real.....

.....well, I just received an email from Ron Stimpson as he burns the midnight oil at SVS/Denver.....

"We prefer "wood pulp based, extreme high density, ultra low air content,
compressed fiber cylinder, laminated under extreme pressure, polymer
wrapped and CNC cut proprietary tubing." About .25" thick they
have been shipped all over the world, in thousands, and not one, not ONE
has ever been damaged in shipping or in subsequent use.

If someone say's "hey your sub is made out of cardboard"... just reply
"yeah some people would be misinformed enough to say that, but at least it's
not made out of 'sawdust and glue' (MDF)".

You malign what you don't understand in life we've learned at SVS."
Hey, I plan on getting the 20-39, so cardboard or not, I don't care. The "pressed paper" (ie: Damn hard and strong cardboard) weighs less than mdf, that's all. It was not an insult:D Thanks for getting that info!

lol, why did you freak out about the room size? I think I got that wrong anyways, that was the guess that was on the top of my mind. I might go with the PB12-Plus depending on shipping costs.

Oh and what is the compromise between the Plus and the PB12 ISD/2??? I am going to be using this HT sytem for movies and games, so which one would perform better? It sounds like you would recommend the PB12 V. My room is more like 15' by 17' by the way, lol.

pair 20-39CS+

I have a pair 20-39 CS+ in the sys, each seeing 685 watts a side & getting signals from a Velodyne SMS-1 to a large Crown amp....even with the A/H UPS guy shipping them upside down they are fine & Never have buzzed, not to mentiion Ron and all the guys at SVS are constantly helpful with any problems.

Because that's a small room for such a massive sub! Holy crap, I hope none of your friends or family have a heart condition;)

.....Giuseppe, I haven't owned or experienced ISD elements from SVS, but the PB12-ISD/V has an oversized box for lower lows and rumbles which to me would work well with HT as I said....for a compromise between HT and music, the Plus elements have worked out great for me....the Plus element is larger than the ISD, takes more power, and has a longer linear excursion movement....to me, those characteristics say more defined and slightly cleaner oscillations rendered....I think your room being 15X17 will be very good for a 5.1 setup....I also think room acoustics are most important, and would advise you to make attempts to damp that first bounce from the full-range speakers....here is an example of damping the first bounce being accomplished about as well as it can be done with great looks too....

Thanks for the advice guys. Well I think I am going to go with the PB12-plus. Also for a room my size do you think that a 7.1 setup would be too much? I am getting all my speakers at an amazing price, more then half off retail, so I am thinking of getting 7.1 surround sound. I think you can see what I have planned to buy in my signature.

If you like the way they sound, nothing we can say will(or should) deter you. You might wanna look into an amp for the fronts.

K thanks for the advice. I am getting such a good price on my speakers that I decided to get something good now, because I will probably be moving out in a few years in which I will have a bigger room. Better to go big now then have to upgrade again later. And about the amp, would the amp just help the speaker at higher sound levels? I probably won't play stuff that loud so would I still benefit from an amp?

The 7300 is a beast. Unless your going to play it LOUD for long periods of time...at that room size, you wont need any more. Just my .02

I have heard a lot of you guys saying that SVS subs are by far the best subs for your $$$. But, I havn't heard many people arguing which are better, the cylinder or the box? Say id you were trying to make more of a movie and games system which style would be better?
Wouldnt touch any of them,I know better.

.....BassHead, you seem to have it in for SVS....I have purchased and received four unpowered subs from SVS, and couldn't have been more pleased with their applications....any email I have ever sent to SVS, be it questions or comments, has been answered most adequately within minutes....may I ask what the situation was that brought you to this position?....
