My SVS PB12-Plus/2 is kind of obnoxiously large. If anyone has any suggestions for a smaller sub with equivalent sound or has any interest in buying this thing, please mention.

Nothing smaller will perform equally well. Size matters in subs. No, the Sunfire cube will not do it.

Woofing is about moving air. Those little boxes simply can't move enough air.

.....isn't it amazing how those one foot by one foot powered subs with 25 kazillion watts can fry the air?....gets old quick though....I got tired of down firing ones too....I want a little direction to my subs, and want two so I have a layer all the way across the bottom of my TV end.....

Ok, Ok not bad mulester7, ya got me there!

Just to clarify. That wasn't a personal attack, I was just reading this thread and couldn't resist the temptation to poke at ya. I'll try to work on my spelling if that will put your mind at ease!

I look forward to our next encounter on whatever topic we can relate to!

Try to find a dealer for ACI's "Maestro" subwoofer. Its so good that some companies have threatened legal action against people who give positive reviews of it.

Surely you had realised this were the case prior to buying such a quality piece of sub gear. I personally would find a way to live with its size as it is one of the best bangs for buck around for movies and music.

I previously owned two sunfire True subs, one in each corner, but soon tired of its sound, especially on music. i guess I was spoilt when i had the 18" Bag End Infrasub.

My new SVS PB12-plus/2 easily out performs both of these models on movie soundtracks (including the two sunfires together) and is not too far off on the music from the Bag End - but the Bag End is a different sounding beast altogther. I'm very happy with the PB12 plus/2 as I feel I am getting the best movie experience (for the money and then tripple it) along with a sub that can go from sweet finnese to tight, sledge hammer punches in a blink.

If you were in Australia I'd buy it off you. Enjoy it....

Dropbear,

That Sunfire looks like a little Bose cube next to that monster. The SVS is Huuuuge! No doubt is puts out the bass. I've heard those Sunfires, and man can the drivers move. I've never seen excursion like they have, although I didn't think the SPL was all that great compared to the larger subs. Sunfire subs look like they are having constant convulsions when played loud. I would love to see Sunfire produce that exact sub in the SVS dimensions. They would probably put a 5000 watt amp in to drive it - then it would start walking out the door.

Yes the SVS is a beast in every sense, size, bass quality and bass extension. I'm lucky enough to have the size room to put it in (w=5.2m d=6.5m).

I recently played 'The Incredibles' DVD...whoa  fantastic mix laid down on the audio tracks... the SVS rolls effortlessly with every punch...scary stuff...

My only regret is that I wish I had the cash to go the 'Ultra' at the time of purchase... now that would be something again. Maybe in a few years... :D

For anyone that hasn't had a listen to this sub I recommend you place it on your short list. I took the gamble not hearing this unit but in all honesty, it is probably the smartest purchase I have ever made into my system.

.....Emason, first I say if you're not pleased with the performance of the SVS PB12-Plus/2, good luck on finding something else that's better in the same price range....SVS uses three grades of woofers, and maybe it's four as I remember now they have a 10 inch woofer incorporated into their product line....let's say three with reference to the 12 inch woofers they use....ISD, Plus, and Ultra....power handling capabilities, size of magnet, and linear excursion limits being the graduating differences....notice as you go from ISD to Plus to Ultra, air space increases for the total size of the sub....I have settled with the B4+ which uses the middle grade Plus woofer....Tom at SVS told me if they ever went to a sub using 4 Ultra elements, the box would probably approach the size of a decent sized chest freezer, haha....I say SVS is hard to beat for the snakeskins/greenbacks laid out.....

Apart from its physical size, is there any reason why you would want to sell it? I am in the process of deciding whether to get the SVS PB12-ISD/2 or PB12-Plus/2 from SVS?

If you are serious about selling yours, how much do you want for it?
