no, it's not a downgrade, like i said, the sensitivity does not dictate how the speaker sounds, i guess it's a sacrifice a speaker manufacturer has to make to make the speaker sound how it sounds. although i had the 01's i never bothered to A/B them and i highly doubt SVS would come out with a crappier speaker, it seems that all things equal, they go up and not down.
For the most part, the lower sensitivity is created by padding the tweeter's sensitivity to be inline with the woofer and the desired bass response.

Going with a sealed design, and wanting the speakers to crossover nicely at 80hz, dropping the sensitivity looks like it was necessary.

I think SVS would be better off moving to more efficient speakers to match the marketing of the output of their subs. The sensitivity/efficiency of their speakers are much lower than speakers they will be compared to.
