Is anyone interested in reading a comparison between the $1299 SVS PB12-Ultra and the $1750 Axiom EP-600 ?

I have the Ultra (actually, two) ordered already, and am talking to Axiom about the EP-600.

We also have a Velodyne DD-18 on hand.

Wouldn't the EP500 be closer to the Ultra in price and performance?

YES! regardless, there is a severe lack of information on Axioms DSP subwoofers right now

You are correct, the EP-500 is probably a better choice. That being said, the 600 just looks TOO cool to pass up. Plus my wife rolled her eyes, and said "If you must" about the EP-600 ...

YES, please do so! It will be nice to see how they both stack up. Thanks!

The EP-600 has been ordered, but will be about 8 weeks for delivery. My decorator (AKA the wife) wanted it in Piano Gloss Black. Look for a late summer shootout. :)

She is quite a sport, yes. Six years ago, our then 8 year old son was diagnosed with type one Diabetes. It is incurable, but also quite controllable, meaning that he can live a normal life if his diet and insulin are monitored carefully.

We made a decision at the time that our social life would revolve around our home.

With three main theater areas (27x24 ft, 25 x 24, and 43x14.5) plus our bedroom sitting area (16x14), there is a LOT of room - and my son enjoys the hobby immensely. Actually, the two younger ones do, too.

So yes, we have lots of speakers from the likes of Axiom, Onix, ACI, Paradigm Studio, and Energy Veritas. Subwoofers from SVS, AXIOM, Hsu and the Velo...

Being stuck at home CAN be good ... :)

So what are your favorites in the house? How do the Axioms compare to the Paradigms, and either to the Energy?

What's your top pick of the subs you have?

Awesome that someone has three theaters in their house. Can you post some pictures?

Rather than post MY favorites on all these, we are working on a GTG to allow a bunch of guys to participate in a blind test. I don't want to muddy that test.

Here is a pic of our basement theater with Studio 100 V.3's, Energy 2.4i's, and Onix Ref 3's. You will also see the Emotiva gear as reviewed here, on Audioholics ... the 2nd is a pic of the first upstairs theater room, with Rocket RS-1K's. Those are being replaced with an ACI system next week. My bride wanted oak. Something about it "matching" better. Seriously, I am looking forward to seeing how the ACI Essence package compares to some highly rated gear.

The third pic shows the basement theater from the bottom of the stairs. My wife did a great job making that room comfortable.

Words fail me. Killer - absolutely killer.

You could charge admission, or start a high end shop right out of your own home. Would you be so kind as to introduce your wife to my wife? Maybe she can talk some sense into her.

Very impressive!

Hey - When we FINALLY nail down the date of the GTG, come on up. With a name like Buckeyefan, I would guess you are central Ohio ?

We are 3.5 hours from Columbus.

LOL My wife loves Oak too. When I replaced my so-so black sub with an SVS PB12-Plus and told her it was gonna be bigger, she made that face. Then I told her I got it in Oak and everything was fine.

It's unfortunate that your son has type one Diabetes. The way you and your family are handling it is admirable.

That new Oak finish from Sound Art China looks great on the SVS Box subs. The speakers from ACI (Essence V mains, Essence center, Emerald On-Walls for side and Emeralds for rears) will have 3/4 inch real oak side panels. Pics will be posted in about two weeks, after everything is here.

For those who are unfamiliar with ACI - www.audioc.com .

Last year, I did a pretty extensive evaluation on their Maestro subwoofer, and still think it was overall the best subwoofer I have heard - including the PB12-Ultra, B4+, PB12-Plus/2, Hsu VTF-3, and the Velodyne DD-18.

It will be fun to hear and measure how the PB12-Ultra and the Axiom EP-600 stack up.

AND ... Thanks for the kind words about our son and family. What you said is just another reason why I keep logging on here, Audioholics is turning into a GREAT forum ... :)
