I can get a single SVS PB12-NSD sub for $840(tax incl.) or 2 Emotiva Ultra 12 subs for $1025(tax incl.)
My room size is 14x19 with sloped ceiling = around 2500 cubic feet of space to fill.
I would appreciate some help in deciding which way I should go. My primary use would be 50%HT and 50%music.

Depends on how much bass you are looking for and whether or not you want more oomph on the bottom end. The SVS is ported and will have more authority down low and would be probably just enough for that room (I had a PB-10 in a larger room). Dual Ultra 12s will give you more output at the expense of deep extension.

Unless you listen to Dubstep or RnB or Pipe Organ symphony type of music, most will not require a very very low extension. On the other hand, all good sounding action flick will have tons of sub workout material.

One option would be to get 1x SVS or Emotiva and try it. If you feel that more sub is needed, add a second one down the line.

FWIW I just got a PC12-NSD (cylinder version, negligible performance difference) in a large room... and while I like the qualities of the sub, its not enough for me. I'm looking to bite the bullet and get a PC13-Ultra now. But everyone's tastes vary...

I cannot pick one later as I wouldn't be allowed to put another PB12-NSD due to its size. So, I am allowed(by the aethetic committee) to have 2 small subs or 1 big one in our media room.

Then given the sale pricing, I'd probably go with two Ultra 12s. That is a good price too, since shipping is included. You won't have authority down into the teens most likely, but it should still sound great with plenty of output.

Go with 2x Emotiva Ultra 12.

I cannot vouch for the sound, but the price is damn good. I don't need a sub, but feel like buying a couple :D.

If you have a sub or can get your hands one to borrow id at least do a "sub-crawl" & see where good spots for 1 or 2 subs would be. Because i used to have two 12" subs that were great but i found, that of the 2 good locations for them to be placed for even bass, only 1 spot could actually be used do to aesthetics. I temporarily co-located them to get the most output but decided to sell them & go with the VTF-15H. I couldnt be more happy with my choice!

So if your room DOES have 2 good locations for a dual sub configuration then yes go for dual Emotiva Ultra-12s. But if you find that only 1 good location is actually possible then skip the 12" & for sure go big...15". Both for movies & music its great!

From my experience, two 12" subs hit very nice & clean & are for most people going to be plenty of bass. If you are a bass-head or think your suseptable to becoming one then a single ported 15" will dig much deeper.

Those Emotivas are a good price & a great company to deal with!!
