Yes, I saw that review before and someone earlier in this string also provided that link. It is interesting how each of the charts seems to give different information. I realize that part of that is testing conditions.

Thanks,

Set your cross over for 80Hz. This will give you the blend you require, and keep the bass non directional.

If the bass still is a little directional, move the subwoofer closer to the TV. This way it will seem as if the bass is coming from the center of the screen.

Thanks for the suggestion. The sub is already placed next to the TV but will keep that in mind as I am considering changing the front placement of things to get the TV more centered in the space. I have heard various numbers regarding what frequency sound becomes directional...have seen numbers as high as 100 or 120.

Sometimes, the reason you can sense the sub is directional *MAY BE* because there are harmonics caused by distortion or your room itself.

A crossover has a slope associated with it - the sound doesn't just stop at the crossover point, so the higher you cross the sub, the more likely you are to be able to localize it. 120Hz will almost certainly result in some sound being split between the mains and the sub as well as allowing the sub to play farily high, increasing the likelihood that it will be localizable. At 100Hz, this lessens but is still pretty much the case, but I've used 100Hz and found it to be tolerable. At 80Hz, it seems to become less of a problem because the sub should be rolling off mostly by 160Hz vs as high as 240Hz with a 120Hz x-over.
