SVS Cylinder PCi+ vs CS+?

Now, one is powered, the other is passive. Given two models (say 20-39), are they the same sub excluding the power amp?

For example, I wonder why someone would prefer a passive sub over a powered one?

Yes, same driver, porting, etc.

Some folks have external amps already, or would rather go the pro amp route.

Check with SVS if you are interested -- pro amps aren't that expensive but choosing depends how low an impedance (how many subs) you want to drive.

As an example, a pair of powered Ultra cylinders is about $2300.
A pair of unpowered Ultra cylinders and a Behringer EP2500

If you don't need the other features on the plate amp it's something to consider. Check with SVS
