SVS comparison question

Hey all,

I was wondering if there is anyone who has heard the difference between the 16-46 pc + and the 20-39 pc + subs from svs. The room is average sized, about 2300 square feet, and the price difference is small and thus irrelavent. Which would be better for bass you can really feel. Obviously I'm sure both are monsters, but what are the differences?

Well, the 16-46+ will have lower extension (hence the 16 in the name for 16Hz). So this would really give you the subsonic bass you can feel. The 20-39 would be no slouch, but the 16-46 would add a few more hertz to the bottom end.

2300 Sq ft? Thats average? My house isn't much bigger than that! Do you mean cubic feet? anyhow:

I liked the sound of the 20-39 the best. I thought it put out good bass, and was really good for music.

I haven't heard the 16-46, but by most accounts, the 20-39 is the happy medium in the lineup giving you a little more output in the higher range at the expense of the extension.

I went with the 20-39, because while the 16-46 has lower extension, the 20-39 provides more SPL's. Add in the fact that the room will likely add extension down to 18 Hz or less, and I felt that I was sacrificing very little in the extension area while ensuring plenty of punch.

Real world experience however, now that I've had the 20-39 for a while, is that the SPL output is so overwhelming that I rarely have the power output beyond 30%. Do understand, I am a bass-o-holic and at this level can bring the neighbors a-knocking on my door. Thus, I have to believe that the 16-46 would provide more than enough SPL's, while giving that extra visceral impact.

Given the chance, I would now go for the 16-46. My space is 2100 cf, BTW.
