SVS 25-31 Passive subwoofer... opinions?

The SVS will no more 'require' EQ than any other sub. It is designed for flat response without equalization. Perhaps you're thinking of the HSU TN-1220; it's an underdamped design with a deliberate slight roll off in the lowest end. The HSU tube does require their EQ module to flatten the response, in theory. In practice I've found in many rooms when placed in a corner room gain will reinforce the deep bass to the point where the EQ box is superfluous.

I've never heard any SVS sub, so I'm not qualified to comment on them. But I do know several people who have them and are very pleased. And the reviews I've read have been uniformly positive. I'd contact them for shipping to Canada- they may have a warehouse or something up there.
