I have been trying to figure where to place my side and rear surrounds in my room but have room across a problem.

First of all my setup is a Denon 3806 with monitor 9's in front with adp-370 dipoles for all surrounds (7.1). The problem I am having is the room layout.

I have a long and narrow room (40'*15'*7') with the two 40' walls being concrete. The tv is placed in a corner (I know, terrible location but I can't help it) and the main listening position is about 10' away from the tv against the opposite wall (L couch). The side and rear surrounds are all going to be mounted on the side walls.

I am having difficulty trying to figure out the optimum position for the surrounds. I don't think I will be able to hear the right side surround from this seating position no matter where I place it:confused: . Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Hmm...

That is a fairly quirky configuration to work with. I'm not so sure your rear surrounds would even be discernable due to your seating location, but if you're seating was out far enough, I suppose they would be.

As far as the side surrounds are concerned, you may want to consider using a ceiling mountable bracket in which you can have the surrounds (or at least the one on the right) suspended via the bracket and aimed at the seating location.

Tough layout, no doubt about it. Any possible way of repositioning the TV to the middle of the room along one of the front/rear walls? -TD

The TV can't be repositioned. There is a door in the middle of the 15' wall and the tv is a 61" projection so these two factors don't leave me with many options other than the angle it is currently at. I think I'll just have to move my primary listening position further down the couch to the middle of the room. It's not ideal, but it'll work.

Thanks

Do you think the ceiling mounted brackets would work for you in this case? Just curious.. -TD

Do you have a link where I could see a pic of them?
