I have been deliberating between buying a pair of new CM7s at 50% discount or buying a full 5.1 Orb, or 5.1 B&W CM1 system.

Although I readily admit the 5.1 system would make much more sense from a budget and practicality standpoint, I just can't pass up the 50% CM7 deal... (could you?...)

So I am going to make do with a 2 speaker system for a while, until I can afford to complete my HT.

My surround speakers would have to be wall mounted, high WAF, and therefor low profile

Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should researching?

Maybe the B&W DS3? or maybe some ORB Mod2s, I honestly have no idea what my options might be...

Also, any sub recommendations would also be appreciated - my room is about 30' x 20' but I live in a condo building and have a young baby (so unfortunately can't try and reproduce earthquakes...)

You may want to consider a center channel before surrounds, but the DS3s should work fine. How is the sound penetration between units? You have a good size space, so you'll want a decent sub(2). Right now an Epik Empire would be a good option.

Sorry I guess i'm a bit of a newb and didn't understand your question..

Sound penetration between units?

Unfortunately, I also have space problems with the center channel... If I put it in front of my TV, it would probably block the bottom of the screen, and there isn't any room for it inside or under my media console.

I have the new line of Samsung LED TVs. Does anyone know if you can put a center channel in front of these TVs without obscuring the screen?? The stand looks pretty short, so I imagine not, but I could be wrong.

Attached is a layout of my room so that you can see what I am working with. Hopefully you will appreciate my surround speaker dilemma...

Thanks for your help!

OMG!! You're watching a 46" display from almost 30'. LOL. I meant between condo units.

30' might be an exaggeration. might be closer to 20 or 25. I just moved in a few couple months ago, so all my existing stuff is legacy from my old place... The 46" is just big enough to not look too small, but also not so large to make the living room look like a cinema... The big gap between the couch & TV is to create a play area for kids and also a walkway to get outside...

Anyway, separation is actually great. We are an end unit with no one beneath us, one neighbor to the side, and people I don't like above us. It isn't the neighbors I am worried about, its my baby who sleeps in the room behind the couch and I don't want to wake when watching movies...

In think if I do some DIY and reshuffling I might be able to insert the center channel in my AV console (in the central space where the receiver would normally go, and place the receiver somewhere else...)

The center channel would then be quiet low to the ground (about 1.5 feet) but its a hell of lot better than having nowhere to put it...

Unfortunately I cannot mount a shelf behind the TV.
