Just wondering if anyone has tried this. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-23THX for decoding and high-def upscaling, but I preamp out the front channels to a vintage Marantz 2270, the surround to a Marantz 2220b, and the center to another Marantz 2220b wired in mono. Ridiculous, I know, but I love the warmth the vintage amps lend to films, and since I watch a lot of classics, it works nicely to enhance the viewing experience. This leaves all of the Pioneer's native amplifier power open for use. I'm thinking about wiring it up to a sound bar and mounting it as an expansive height channel. It might be convoluted and distort the intended audio experience, but I thought I'd ask if anyone has tried something similar.
