Before I power up my new 2-channel system, it would seem prudent to have a quality surge protector. Recommendations? Thank you.

Even though I refer to our local electric utility as "The Amateur Electric Company" we don't have any surges or sags here. So I suppose it would depend on the quality of your electrical service.

I understand that the cheap units simply don't protect well.

Thank you.
This is something you would certainly hear from a manfuacturer or someone who was influenced by that manufacturer's statements or advertising. Do they protect well? I have no idea. I don't need any protection from whatever it is they protect.

TrippLite is a well known company that makes quality surge protection devices. You could look at APC and Belkin too.

I use an APC H10 power conditioner which may be a bit more than you'd like to spend but it is convenient to plug everything into because it is similar in size to other components and sits directly in the rack with everything else.

If you're looking for a surge protector, any of the off the shelf brands will help protect your equipment.

If you're looking for power conditioning and regulation, well, that's an entirely different can of worms :)

I posted a long while back on surge protectors and voltage regulators here. :)

Cheers!

I personally would plug the Bryston into the wall directly. Perhaps you want to also think of running a dedicated 20a circuit or two to your listening room. I have my monoblocks plugged directly into the wall and they are left on 24/7 except lightning storms of course. All the rest of my stuff if plugged into a Monster power center though.
