Surely this will turn Sony around...

Count me in as a Sony fan. Of the six systems I use, all of them have at least one Sony product. Peace and goodwill.

Mobile products and communications? Who the hell here is carrying a Sony phone? I have to wonder about those numbers.
They actually make good phones and they just released a new tablet that's supposedly good.

LG makes the best phones right now. My LG G2 is amazing. The G3 is even better.

I'm a tech geek, love tweaking stuff, and customization and I bought an iPhone 6 after owning Android phones my entire "smart phone life". The iPhone is simply the best overall device available IMO. Best and most consistent camera, best and most consistent apps, best overall experience bar none. Sorry Android. I like you but there is always... something.. with every Android phone I've had that ended up driving me nuts over time.

But it's cool to hate Apple! I've had an iPhone 4 that I bought used off a member here for several years now (4 I think) and it still works with relatively low problems and I can still get a day's worth of use from it on a single charge. I challenge most android users to make those claims. Blackberry users need not apply, I know your phone still works, and I also know it's in your sock drawer 24/7.:D

Why, how much better is it?

Full 4k display, better camera, bigger battery etc. Comes with multitasking as well, but you can actually get that with a custom ROM. That said it's not work the upgrade cost if you have an LG G2 already.

Most newer android phones last longer than a day.

I can go nearly an entire weekend without charging my iPhone 6. That's not the 6+ with the bigger battery but the standard 6 with an 1,810mAh battery. The Android phones that get anywhere close to the same battery life have much larger batteries.

With that said, I'm not knocking Android. As I said I was a long time Android user. I loved my Moto X though it didn't have the greatest battery life nor the greatest camera.

I should clarify. I challenge them to work as well as competitive iPhones 4 years down the line.

I know plenty of people who own the iPhone 4 still and use it daily. At the time the iPhone was released Samsung had released the Galaxy Captivate. I haven't seen one of those in over 2 years. Granted iPhone had better market saturation at the time, but I don't think they held 50% of the market on cellular devices, I don't recall seeing any devices from that era for a long time other than the iPhone 4.

I'm still using my original iPhone 4.

But, my home button has gotten janky. I usually just use the soft-home-button that you can pin to the screen, but that is a bit of a hassle too. I looked into replacing it, the part is ~$5, but you gotta tear the entire phone apart from the back to get to it!!! Thanks a lot, Jobs.

My speakers also don't work any longer. Seems to most likely be because it always thinks that I have headphones plugged in, when I don't.

I'm surprised I don't have these problems. All the parts on mine still work. My problems are limited to rare connectivity issues with bluetooth and service related issues, which I would likely experience regardless of the phone.

I have to agree with this. My first smart phone was the iphone 4S. Used it for two years and then switched to Android (Samsung Galaxy S4). While the Galaxy has great specs and all, the Android system is not as good as iOS. Too much bloatware and slowdowns.
Same goes for tablets. My wife's ipad air 2 flies in everything it does even when you have 20 apps open. My Android tablet starts stuttering and gets slow with 4 or 5 apps open.
The iphone does almost everything right. I am definitely going back to an iphone once my contract expires in September.

If not for absolutely dreadful iTunes software, i would have jumped back to Apple camp (ex owner of original iPhone gen1)

Much of that is the crappy skin that Samsung and so many other manufacturers put on top of Android. Samsung TouchWiz is obviously not well coded as shown by the fact that it bogs down on the ridiculously high spec Samsung hardware. Samsung has a history of throwing every gimmick and "feature" they can think up against the wall to see what sticks and they end up with the bloated mess that is TouchWiz. I had an SIII which was before they got really carried away and the TouchWiz interface was among the worst aspects to the phone. I installed countless customer ROMS and some were pretty awesome but all had at least one killer flaw like a camera that didn't work right or random reboots.

Stock android is a much better experience but almost no phones have stock android. The Moto X is probably the most popular and widely available phone with (mostly) stock Android and it really makes a difference.

iTunes in OS X works fine. Haven't used it in Windows for quite some time but I remember the experience was not good. The only thing you need iTunes for anymore is to do manual local backups and sync music. You can use an iPhone without ever connecting it to a PC if you want.

Syncing local media, last time I checked it's only thru iTunes. But I see your point, iTunes supposed to work well on mac

Ahh yes I forget iTunes may be the only way to get pictures off in Windows. In OS X that's done in iPhoto or now the new Photos app (which is awesome btw).

At my new work i was offered a choice between 2014 mbp or thinkpad t440s. I took the latter and have zero regrets

iTunes is not needed to take pictures stored on an iphone to view and transfer them to a Windows PC. It just pops up as an external drive when I connected it to any Windows PC whether it has iTunes or not.
