this is not a plug for the big box monsters, but just a heads up for anyone that may be looking for some superbit dvd's. As of yesterday at the local BB, they had probably about 5 decent titles in the superbit format....The best thing about it is that they were all $ 9.99...a good 5 bucks cheaper than the regular version with all the crap you never watch anyways...I picked up spiderman superbit, which is the first superbit i've owned and i'll check it out sometime soon...anyhoo....just a heads up for those that may be interested in a 10 buck superbit movie....

no problem for the info, i figured a few in here might be interested in them...i cant remember what all titles they had,but i remember the 5th element and once upon a time in mexico specifically...speaking of superbit...did you notice any resolution or audio differences ? I'm not counting on noticing anything video wise since my t.v. is a non digital set with an s-video connection as its highest source of resolution...but..did you notice a difference audio wise ? just curious...

Well I know it was the best sounding movie I had ever heard. But that could be b/c of two different reasons though, the movie actually does have awesome sound (which I'm thinking it does), or it was b/c of my first listen with a decent quality speaker my new Acoustech center. Can't comment on the video, I'm at home at the moment and am stuck using a 1985 console tv that just has composite video, but it looked pretty good even on that.

I noticed Men In Black II also in superbit, but since I don't have a high def tv (yet) I didn't think it would matter much on the old jvc tube, so I didn't pick up a copy...although I might change my mind. Also noticed Panic Room in wallyworld in the 2fer 11 bin ...superbit!

The other reason for Superbit

Dont' forget that all the Superbit titles include a DTS audio track. So for those of you who already like how they sound, or those who have just recently discovered it. There's another almost more tangible reason to go for it.

A superbit dvd has less compression, there are no extras, no extra footage, alternate endings, etc...

Dracula Superbit looks a lot better than the original release. Fifth Element was already a great transfer and pretty good audio, so it isn't a huge improvement. I was most impressed with the SB version of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, though it is also only subtitled.

Best Buy is shifty about this though. Only a few titles were actually re-badged as $9.99, Spider Man and Spider Man 2 were still labeled as $19.99 and $20.99. When I brough them to the register, they still rang up as $9.99. So don't let the price tag fool you!

I'm actually really excited to watch the Spider Man series in Superbit. Mmmm... Dunst in higher quality.

for some reason, don't know why, I was under the impression that to get the most from a superbit dvd, HIgh def tv, progressive scan dvd & tv is best. I have a panny f85 dvd player with a yammy htr5760 and 7.1 speakers. Do you have to have better (more expensive) to notice a difference in the sound and pic quality?

Cause pat yourselves on the back guys, at 9.99 I am lusting heavily after The patriot (mel gibson version great battle scenes love the soundtrack) Lawrence of Arabia, Mask of zorro (oh how I love a good swordfight!) Men in black + II (ok ok, it makes me laff alright?) oh I could go on and on and on

Superbit isnt just about video quailty, it's audio too. A lot of these titles' standard release did not include a DTS soundtrack. So it will not only look better, but sound better too.
