Can anyone suggest any music that I may be interested in? I'm looking for some new stuff to download, but my iTunes account is at ZERO dollars and Genius just won't do.

I'm into bands like... Electric Light Orchestra, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Metallica, Free, America, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bad Finger, Edgar Winter Group, The Guess Who, The Who, Hendrix, Zep, Skynyrd, Mott the Hoople, Floyd...

Anything out there that resembles any of these classic rock/rock bands? :D

I think Porcupine Tree may appeal to you. "In Absentia" is one of their best releases and a great point to get introduced to their prolific (and brilliant) discography.

Jamie2112 recommended My Morning Jacket, Wilco and DBT. I second those recommendations. I would add, that for somebody with 60's-70's classix, the Drive By Truckers have a mystic connection to old Southern Rock, especially Lynnyrd Skynnerd. Their Souther Rock Opera is an epic piece of southern rock. Wilco is descended from Uncle Tupelo, another noteworthy band from the 90's; their No Depression album is great. After a big split, the rest of Uncle Tupelo ended up in Son Volt, another loud, jangly guitar band that's worth a listen. Son Volt is more of a basic rock band than the Radiohead like work of Wilco. I especially recommend "The Search" and "Okemah and the Melody of Riot", which are excellent.

Check out Pandora.com. It has a ton of music and you can create stations around all the music you like. It doesn't require much effort and as you listen you can rate music with the thumbs up and down features. Also if there's an artist on your station if you give them the thumbs down twice it'll completely remove them. Pandora uses the Music Genome Project to predict what music a person would like based on their stations and ratings. It may throw some music your way that you would never have considered.
