Suggestions for Multiroom Speaker Set-Up

I bought a home with 5 sets of in ceiling speakers. 1 set in the family room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and outside. I just bought an Onkyo TX-NR808 receiver. I plan on putting a 5.1 or 7.1 system in the family room, but I am unsure how to power the speakers in the other rooms. I have read about speaker selector boxes but I am afraid to try and power all the speakers with the Onkyo. These other speakers will not need to put out loud music, and will not be used very often, they would be nice for background music during parties etc. Any suggestions on how to power these speakers in a cost efficient way?

If the speaker pairs have volume control at the speakers, do I need a volume control speaker selector or will the regular Niles speaker selector suffice? Sorry if it a dumb question, I am new to this.

If you are speakiing of the wall-mounted volume controls, then you may already have impedance matching. Check the brand and model and do a web search for the specs.

Keep in mind, impedance matching will protect the amp at the expense of output. You will find that the more speakers wired in and selected, the lower the net sensitivity, and the volume for the zone will need to be much higher than the mains.
