Suggest some banana plugs...

I am going to purchase a new Pioneer receiver. It must connect to the speakers with the banana plug connector.

Can you suggest the best connector or are they all pretty much the same? If I need to purchase 6, that can add up. So I was hoping to find the best for the cheapest price availiable.

I'nm quite satisfied with the generic RatShack singles myself.

If you're usinf 16 gauge wire theyare all you;ll really need. They also have ones for 12 gauge as well but they cost a little more.

Parts express has a 4-pack for like, 6 bucks. Not the cheapest, but good quality, gold plated, and will accept up to 10 or 12ga wire.

These are absolutely my favorite banana plugs to work with.

$3.00 for a package of 4 plugs (one speaker, both ends!) and they use two screw down connectors for wire up to 12 gauge. I use mostly 16 gauge with them and as hard as I pull on them, the cable doesn't budget. Rock solid connection, easy to install, gold plated quality, and plastic shielding to help prevent shorts.

Three bucks! I ordered about 15 packs of 4 recently - well worth the 45 bucks I paid.

These are a little more, but well worth it. I have tried both normal and locking. The locking by far is a better connection and a better banana.
Here is a link to some very good ones....

I did a little more research and I found out I didn't need banana plugs. But you can still use them. Do banana plugs give you a better connection for better sound or is it all for nothing?

Banana plugs won't affect your sound at all. They will however, make it much more convenient to plug in your speaker cables. Plus, if you find yourself unhooking and rehooking cables, the bananas will be much more resistive to wear and tear than bare wire. Since the price is pretty small, I'd go with the bananas. You'll be happy later on when you don't have to worry about stray wires and such.

Parts Express part#091-330. The cheaper ones with the black body don't work well because the screw action damages the wire, as do the setscrew types. The 330 uses a little metal piece between the screw and the wire. At $3/pr they are pretty darn good for the price. I buy them in bulk and use them in almost every installation for customers.

if those are the impact acoustics like it says, go straight to their website and audioholics members get 20% off everything so they are only $2.40 for the 4 plugs
