Hey guys I recently purchased the onkyo txsr805 receiver and I am using the Audyssey auto setup to calibrate my speakers. I want to know what should be the crossover frequency and volume level be set on the subwoofer.

thanks

What sub and how big is your room? The volume you set on the sub itself depends heavily on those two factors, as well as others. Rule of thumb is to put it at about 50% volume and set the crossover to "bypass" or all the way to its max setting since the receiver will handle the crossover.

The crossover on the sub should be inactive or adjusted to its highest setting. You want to utilize the receiver's crossover for best integration. Usually 80hz is a good starting point but will vary based upon the frequency response of all the other speakers. As for the sub's gain, start with it about 1/3 to halfway and adjust accordingly from there.

If you're looking for a more accurate dial in you should look into investing in a relatively cheap SPL meter.

It's always a good thing to double check the Audyssey's decisions as well... sometimes it makes weird choices.
