Subwoofers should make sound, right?

I am a newbie, but think I'm right on my title point. Unfortunately, mine aren't making sound.

Anyway, joking aside, I need some help. I have a Harman Kardon AVR 3600, a Dayton APA 150, and two Niles PSW8 passive in-wall subs. I have not been able to get everything connected and/or set right and can't get anything out of my subs. I have connected a subwoofer cable to the HK subwoofer pre-amp out (I assume it's an LFE out). The amp is set to "auto" and wakes up when I try to calibrate the system using the HK automated set up. So, I know the amp is getting some signal. The subs never make a sound, though, and the auto EQ thing sets up the system to run with no subs. I have wired the subs to the amp for mono and stereo, tried them individually, etc. I don't see how my problem could be how I've wired the speakers into the amp. I have manually set my subs to "on" in the HK menu, still nothing.

So, what am I missing? Does anyone here have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

Ruby

Try a preamp output other than the sub pre-out just to see if you get sound. Try the APA connected to another speaker to make sure it is outputting sound as well.

Sounds like you hooked up something in the wrong place to me.

That said don't try the auto-on until it works on. You should have a manual test tone you can run to see if it's hooked up.
