Subwoofer with Surrounds?

I have an extra sub laying around - what a great problem I am thinking on using it with the surrounds. It is a 5.1 system and am wondering if anyone has done that, if it is worth it? and any general thoughts.

I have an old M&K 8 inch sub or a HSU VTF2 MK@ that i could use in the back. The wires are run in the walls/attic and think that I could easily splice them and send them to a wall plate in the middle of the back wall, then back up and to the BPX.

I don't think it will buy you much since the surrounds should be cut off at 80Hz according to the spec.

You might be better using it as a 2nd sub in the room to help smooth response from the LFE channel.
