I have a Wharfdale 100 watt powered subwoofer hooked up to a Sunfire Theater Grand .MY question is on the settings it doesn't seem to matter which way I adjust the crossover and the power level adjustment .My processor crossover is set at 80hz the lowest it will go and the sub setting is at 10db .the sub just doesn't sound right .At times there is to much bas and other times not enough.Trying to decide if another sub would work better .
any help would be greatly appreciated ,thanks Ron.

Offhand, I'd say that sounds like the tail wagging the dog.

IOW, I think the sub is outclassed and you're expecting too much out of it.

outclassed

If the sub is outclassed ,what would be a good replacement for it ? And any ideas of wattage for the sub?
I was thinking it might be a bad sub it has a metal screen type grill.thanks for the info

the question now is...

$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Hsu and SVS put out fine products. Generally, you go for the best you can afford.
