I've noticed in the subwoofer placement section that it's best to have the subs on the sidewalls opposite each other. My side walls have been carpeted with underlay underneath the carpert would that have any effect at all?. At the moment my 1st sub is on the left side wall and the second is in the centre front(In front of a cabinet) would I get more benefit moving the front centre to the side wall opposite the other sub, facing each other? Both Subs are JL Audio Fathoms f112.

that's actually only a guideline since none of our rooms are perfectly rectangular ...

what you need is some sort of measuring tool, either the Room EQ Wizard + mic or a Velodyne SMS-1 would help you tweak your Frequency response.

underlay underneath the sub should be no problem.

Thankyou for that

Putting subs at the mid-points of the walls will even out the response throughout the entire seating area. And the best way to tell is to use a SPL meter, at the seating positions, while running pink noise through the subs, at check the max output level.
You can also put a sub at the main seat location and crawl around the room, while sending pink noise to the sub and wherever the SPL meter reads the highest levels is where you want to put the subs. But if those locations are the corners, beware that corners can produce a too boomy output.

Moved my subs beside the fronts and without touching the volume on any prcessor or sub the volume increased huge. I guess thats the best pos. Now to run the ARO on Fathoms to bring down the peaks and re do Audyssey.
