i am looking at either the klipsch sub-10 or sub-12 and am wondering about the inputs and outputs... the klipsch site talks about high level speaker binding posts in the inputs and as a passthru for the outputs... now what are the advantages to this and how would this be set up? do i go from my reciever (yamaha rx-663) to the sub and then to the speakers or vise versa or what? any help would be much appreciated... i am very much looking forward to getting one of these subs as they sound amazing at best buy and thats about all i have to look at sadly but i would be quite happy with one of these!
thanks in advance!

Chuck,

Hey. For how to set up those high-level inputs and outputs, take a look at the owners manual for the Sub-10 and Sub-12 at this link. It's pretty straight forward, but just let us know if you have any questions after you look at that.

With your Yamaha 663, I would recommend using the line-level LFE input instead of the high-level connections. The receiver would do the bass management for you, send the low frequency signals to the sub, and then send the higher frequencies to your other speakers. That's always my first choice. If you use the high-level connections, then the sub is filtering out the low frequencies and sending the remainder to the speakers, but it can only do that for two speakers (so, if you have a surround sound system, then you're better off using the LFE input).

Adam is right on as always, but for the money, please consider other sub options, as I think you can do better than klipsch for the money. Two very popular and respected internet direct (ID) companies are Hsu Research and SVS. I have bought the top of the line subs from both of these companies, and they are awesome. They offer excellent subs in your price range.
