subwoofer hook-up

I just purchased a Denon5800 receiver and am in the process of hooking it up to 2-B&W 804's as mains, B&W CDM-2's as rears, and B&W HTM center.

I'm reading and shopping for sub(s) and quite like the idea of Velodyne HGS10(s).

What is the best set-up for sub(s) and 2-channel listening? Will one sub hooked into the sub-out port of my receiver play in 2-channel mode? Would 2-subs, somehow hooked up to my mains be a better choice? Please help.

Your system sounds good. I'm using a pair of B&W DM601's and have just purchased a B&W ASW3000 subwoofer which I'll be picking up soon.

I think that the advantage of having two subwoofers is that the bass can be more even sounding in your room. Some subwoofers have controls on them to adjust the phase in such a way as to work with another subwoofer. I'd suggest buying a subwoofer that is suitable to be paired with another subwoofer. If you aren't happy with the bass you get, then you might consider getting another sub to partner your existing unit.

I don't know how you would connect the two subwoofers to your system. Maybe you have to use a phono lead splitter or something.

Quite simple to hook up the two subs.
Use a splitter from the sub out of your 5800 and the run two leads to your two subs.
I have two connected to my 5800, and it works beautifully.
I like two subs because I find it so much easier to place.
I just put the two on either side of my equipment rack and it worked well.
I am using two Paradigm Servo 15's, with the X-30 and I can adjust the phase if I need to.

Be sure to use a male "Y" splitter at the R/L inputs on the plate amp of the HGS-10x Velodyne subwoofers like to see higher gain at the amplifire input
