Hey All,

I have a NAD T762 with Paradigm mini-monitors and Paradigm Monitor 9s. I just bought a Velodyne 1200 Powered Sub and hooked up the one LFE cable to the SUB 1 input on the back of the receiver. I have hardly any sound coming out of the sub. The light in the back of the sub is green, so I know its getting power and signal, but I have no thump?! Anyone have a similar receiver or similar set-up that can give me any advice on how to get some thump out of my sub? I am wondering if I need to hook up both RCAs from the sub to the NAD...forgive my ignorance, I am new to HT and new to AH.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance

You shouldn't have to hook them both up. Did you look in the manual for the sub? Did you try the other input? What about your receiver, is the sub output turned on?

The manual for the sub didn't saymuch, just to hook up one RCA to the sub output on the back of the NAD. I have no idea if the NAD output is turned "on." I think I have to go through all the menus in the setup, I was assuming it was already on, being that I am getting some sound of the sub, just extremly faint.

You just need to go through the setup, I'm sure the level is just too low.

Ok, thanks for the help, I was unsure if the set up levels in the NAD were that sensative that you can alter the sound level of the sub that much, I was hoping there wasn't anything wrong with the Sub 1 output on the NAD.

Also, any advice on a set of surround speakers? I just bought a new Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV (TH-42PX50U) so my budget is kinda limited right now, just thought I could get some good suggestions. Thanks again for all your help, hopefully I can go through the set up tonight.

How about adjusting the volume on the sub itself? You need to adjust both the receiver settings and the sub settings interactively. Without an SPL meter though, you really don't have a good way to know if you are in the ballpark or not.

I got no response from the sub when I adjusted the volume on the back of the box. Slighly higher when I maxed it out, but nothing noticable. I am really hoping that the levels are just down ALOT on the NAD. When I go through the setup tonight I hope I am not surprised. I hope its off! :)

Yep, more than likely you set up the receiver initially with no sub. Then when you added the sub you forgot that you had to tell receiver you have one. Pg 16 in manual. Didn't find a factory reset in the manual. Read pg. 17 about presets for more info.

I would definitely make sure the subwoofer is turned on in the setup menu. I believe the factory default is off. I am not sure though.

Also, check to make sure that the crossover on the Velodyne is not turned all the way down. That would also seriously limit the low end output. When using the receiver's internal crossover/bass management, make sure to turn the crossover off (on the sub), or to it's highest frequency setting.
