Hello. I have a dish network box, tv, a home theather system with a powered subwoofer and sorround sound speakers mounted on the walls. I tried to watch a program on tv with the ht system but I do not get any soundo on the speakers. I only get sound on the subwoofer. Here is how I did my connection.
1. I connected the yellow video out cable of the dish network box to the video in on the TV.
2. I connected the red and white audio cables of the dish network box to the home theater box DVD Audio IN plugs.
3. The subwoofer is connected to the home theater box with a cable
4. From the subwoofer I have the spring type connection to the rca connections jacks on the wall. I had to buy the RCA connectors from Radio Shack and connected the silver wires on the wire to the negative and the copper wires on the positive of the RCA connector as per the instructions on the cover.
But, I am not getting any sound in the speakers. Can anyone help me. I am desperate to see them working!

What kind of cable? How many "wires" does it have? ...or does it simply have RCA connectors on the ends?

Are you sure you don't need to connect the other speakers to the receiver and not the subwoofer?

The speakers have RCA plugs on the back? Mebbe I'm out ot touch, but I haven't seen too many speakers that use these. Then again, I'm not too familiar with modern HTIB stuff, either.

No offense intended, but how experienced are you with putting these buggers on? They can be a little tricky, although I doubt all five could be bad.

If you use a cable with rca jacks to connect the subwoofer to the receiver, then you need to connect the speaker wires for all of your other speakers to the receiver.
This is generally the preferred method because it allows your receiver to do bass management.

You only want to connect your other speakers to the subwoofer's high level (speaker level) outputs if you also connected each of the receiver's speaker outputs to the subwoofer's high level inputs. With this hookup, the subwoofer controls the cross over frequency and you do not want to also hookup the cable. Most subs have a warning not to use the low level and high level inputs at the same time.
