Good looking sub and great step by step pics. Thanks.
Although the dog doesnt look to happy about his role in the whole thing.
What kind of specs are you getting out of it?

Well, those pics are misleading.....

The first pictures are of the sub I built, it's Styke AV12 in a about a 1 ft^3 box with a PE 500w plate amp......I don't have any measurements yet, unfortunately I'm on a military deployment in louisianna (I live in missouri) so I have the thing half assed (with a line level input) to my wal-mart special a/v system (all hooked up to my computer). I will say one thing.....I have the amp turned down to a quarter and the sub level on the "recevier" at 0.....way too loud....my neighbors don't appreciate it.

The sub with the dog (not my dog....and certainly not my idea :) ) is a Stryke HE15 with 2 18" PR's. I have a mackie 2600 to run it, but it has never been hooked up. I won't let anyone play with my toys until I'm around (my brother is holding it for me right now, and he tends to blow things up). Here's a similar setup review.

Anyway, I highly suggest building your own sub...I'll do a full write up with the pics soon......I might wait until I put a finish on the subs first.

Dear cory,

If possible, try to compare products in your own home. The Titanic kit actually has free shipping, so your own liability is limited.

Best of luck to you!

Sincerely,

I have seen MANY, if not all of the AV123.com offerings over the last several years and I will say this.... they make FURNITURE grade cabinets. Their finishes, veneer work and over all "Fit and Finish" take a back seat to no one. In fact the AV123.com factory produces speaker "cabinets" for MANY of the very well know European, as well as, American speaker manufacturers. They are top shelf when it comes to craftmanship.

AV123.com also makes the veneered boxes for SVS (or let me say.... were "rumored" to be making them.... so I don't ACTUALLY know this to be a fact). It is common knowledge though that they make a lot of the VPMS speaker cabinets.

But, bottom line is performance and all four of your choices are good ones. I don't think you will be dissapointed with any of your choices.

:)
I don't think that they make any cabinets but they are imported from china they are really nice cabinets none the less

For what it is worth - I have a STF 2 and just love it. Not only does it shake my living room, it shakes the whole building! :D

You'd love it.

Hi, hope no one minds if I jump in. I'm looking at the same subs, Adire Rava - $399, SVS PB10-ISD - $429, Hsu STF-2 - $399 as my budget for a sub is around $400 also.

From what I can see, the SVS PB10-ISD is probably the one I'll go with. I saw a review with specs and it looks like it easily goes down to below 18hz without any trouble and that's what I'm looking for, that pants shaking experience.

I was curious about the Titanic sub that was mentioned as a kit. I went and read a review on that as well and it seems nice although I dont believe it goes as low as I'd like. Anyone have any experience with it? How is it musically and how well does it do reproducing deep in the chest explosions? The idea of building my own has a little charm.

Thanks.

I (of course) highly suggest DIY......look at www.diyaudio.com for all of your DIY needs. Look here for a different opinion on kits. Making a sub is pretty cake as long as you get the specs right!
